First time posting though I have been following this great site for a little while. Thanks to all the administrators, volunteers and contributors I have learned so much more about AF, it's treatment, and it's real-life impact on fellow sufferers. I also realise how lucky I am compared to some on the forum.

I first noticed I had AF in Nov 2020 when the HR monitor I was using on my static bike suddenly rose to 218 . At that point I thought my monitor was faulty as I didn't feel unwell but this happened from time to time over the following weeks so, thinking this was just training related, I took some time off from training.

Cutting a long story short, I was subsequently diagnosed with P.A.F. and was prescribed Apixaban and Bisoprolol. The Bisoprolol was quite quickly raised to 10mg as my heart rate still rose quite high with any slight exertion & I have been in persistent A.F since the end of Jul 2022.

I don't have any severe symptoms, just tiredness and breathlessness when walking or doing any other exercise. But, my HR monitor shows recently that despite the Bisoprolol I can randomly have a HR between 180 - 217 just from moderate exercise. This will persist until I sit down and rest. My resting HR is nicely controlled though.

I am due to have Cryoablation in a couple of weeks time and reading about other people's experiences on this forum has been very helpful and reassuring.

Best wishes

Den

Hi Den.

Welcome to the forum.

It's good to hear your HR is well controlled at rest. I will say though that 180 - 217 just from moderate exercise is a little high (to say the least).

I'm not a medic but from a personal point of view, I would leave off the exercise for a while. Talk to your doctor about starting a lower rate of exercise program after your ablation.

Enjoy your day.

Hi Paul,Thanks for the welcome and reply.

I def agree with you about easing up on exercise. I am bothered by the high HR while exercising and I'm currently taking it very easy.

I'm hoping that my ablation in the near future will sort out any need for ongoing rate control.

Fingers crossed :)

All the best.

Hi Den, welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask any questions and bear in mind that we always say that there's no such thing as a daft one.

Yes, it's certainly amazing what you can learn by reading posts here. I think every single one of us learnt more about our AF that way. Getting tired and breathless when walking up hills are typical symptoms I'm afraid.

Good luck with your cryoablation.

Hi Jean.

Thanks for the welcome and the 'good luck'

This forum is such a wealth of information it, largely via the people in it, has helped me no end.

I'm certainly less concerned about the upcoming ablation than I would otherwise have been.

All the best.
