I'm four weeks post ablation. Still on sotalol and rivaroxaban but I'm getting breathlessness abs anxiety. Is this normal after an ablation. Will it get better or is something wrong. I'm not due a follow up appointment for another month.

Breathlessness
I had a pulmonaryveinisolation procedure and felt breathless immediately after . I did wait for weeks and had to sleep sitting up . It never got back to where it was yet and I found out I have narrowing pulmonary veins now after my pulmonaryveinisolation procedure. Wondering if that is my electrophysioligists error in my procedure. Either way I hope your wind comes back to you my friend hang on there.
It's worth asking your EP or rhythm nurse if you are concerned. I will say that it took me 6 months to get back to pre ablation fitness levels.
Also beta blockers can cause this.
I felt ok on bisoprolol when in AF , but when I was back in NSR after my ablation they caused me all sorts of side effects
Anxiety yes! I became MORE anxious for a while after my 1st ablation and apparently it's not uncommon. What makes you breathless? Is it during physical activity or during everyday speaking? Breathlessness is always something to investigate in my opinion. And I agree with others that our bodies respond differently to meds post ablation - because presumably we need them less. Call the cardiology unit where you have your ablation and Express your concerns. Ask if you can speaknto an arrhythmia if they have one.
One of my ongoing problems is shortness of breath, especially with an AF attack. You might need to have the Sotolol reviewed. I nearly fainted in a lab just getting up from a chair and my electrophysiologist took me off. I didn't last a week.
I'm sorry I cannot help you. I am unable to take any long term anticoagulants save short term heparin.
Best wishes,
Maxim
