I am in the U.S. and need relief from seasonal allergies. I read an article by an allergist with the Cleveland Clinic. "Decongestants are not recommended for people with hypertension or heart problems. A better option would be a topical nasal steroid like Flonase® (fluticasone), Rhinocort® (budesonide), Nasonex® (mometasone) or Nasacort® (triamcinolone)."
Has anyone tried one of these nasal sprays and did it affect your afib or interact with your meds?

Hiya Cookie,I use both. If I have a cough and have mucus on chest I use decongestant. If I have nasal issues I use spray. Neither have any effect on my well controlled paroxysmal AF or hypertension.
I would check with my cardio. It may also depend on the meds you are on whether you take decongestants. Some of the warnings on the boxes tell you. Usually Flonase is ok as well as Claritin,Allegra, and Zyrtec for allergies
I am in US also. I can use Flonase and Zyrtec with no problems. Benadryl at night also works for me without heart disruptions. Claritin sometimes bothers my heart.
By the way, I had my ablation done at Cleveland Clinic -- top-rate hospital. I have occasional cat allergies that I used to treat with Flonase. It's when I kept a journal of my a-fib episodes, did I realize that Flonase was definitely the culprit in a number of my a-fib attacks. I use eucalyptus nasal inhalers, similar cough drops, to alleviate sinus congestion. Hope this helps.
I have used two versions of fluticasone both of which have been effective. I can't comment on interactions with AF as I have been in remission since a cardioversion.
