Have been taking Edoxaban for 6 weeks now in which time I have had 5 occasions of feeling very lightheaded, hot, uneasy and my blood pressure has gone up to 180/90 ( normally 130/70ish ), this lasts for about 2/3 hours. Blood pressure ok when I lay down, I am in sinus rhythm, heart feels ok. I have had the lightheaded feeling most of the time I have been taking them but have hoped It would gradually get better. Has anyone else had similar?

Hi Sherbert.

OK - first of all I am not a medic. Any comments here are just my take.

Check out this link

I don't think Edoxaban would cause this. I could be wrong of course but I don't think Edoxaban would cause you to feel light headed. I think you should request a call back from your doctor to discuss this. Read number 7 on the link above - anaemia might cause this. Have you been tested for this ?

Best,

Paul

Thanks Paul, after I posted I did feel like removing the post as I think I was clutching at straws. Since you have replied I am glad I did post as my blood tests for the last few years have been giving in and out anaemic readings. I will try to book a blood test. I am wearing a 48 hour Holter at the moment perhaps that may shed some light on it as well. I still don’t feel right this morning, no AF. Had echocardiogram and ecg at hospital all normal.

Do you eat a banana every day as per recommendations? They contain iron.

All the best.

I'm on the same medication and have been having horrible light-headed moments where actually have to sit down as I really feel I'm going to pass out. Horrible feeling. I have been on this medication for a few years though and these light-headed times have been frequent just this past few months. I'm going to go check that link though. Hang in there!stay well

Hello Blue, I have sent off some Kardia readings for analysis and I get Atrial Ectopics ( Bigeminy ) with the odd Ventricular Ectopic mainly after exercise. Whether this is contributing I don’t know. I have just finished wearing a 48 hour monitor ( due to newly diagnosed AF ) and will be seeing cardiologist tomorrow, hopefully it will shed some light on this. Hope so I am feeling rubbish.Sherbert

hi, I hope the monitor gave some info that's useful. Sadly the many times I've been hooked up sometimes for a whole week.....very little shows up hence no matter how many times I'm struggling with my AF, it's coming up to 3 years since I saw my cardiologist. Had a really bad 'going to pass out' event yesterday and boy did I get a fright. Am going to get in touch with the GP today though that in itself will be an experience these days!! Stay well,Blue :-)

Hello, he didn’t mention anything regarding AF ( although I know there were various ectopics on there which I picked up on my Kardia ) but it has given enough information for him to completely change my medication, it will up my heartbeat a little and hopefully help my blood pressure which I have struggled with since Christmas due to reducing my drugs. Also he seemed fairly sure that AF may not come back due to the change of medication, only time will tell. Unfortunately the CT angiogram scan showed blockages ( which I knew I had from H/ A many years ago ) which may need stents, having Stress Echocardiogram to decide. So my story goes on lol, am having to deal with anxiety now as well.

All the best
