Is anyone here on edoxaban(lixiana)? I wondered how you find it and whether anyone has had adverse side effects. As it's the newest NOAC I don't know what it's track record is compared with other NOACs.

Edoxaban
I have been on Edoxaban since last September when I was admitted to hospital with very low blood pressure and slow AF. I was previously taking a 75mg aspirin tablet daily as prescribed my GP as an anticoagulant. I had also been taking blood pressure tablets for 20 years to control my high blood pressure. The cardiologist stopped my blood pressure medication immediately. I then went home and a few weeks later was admitted to hospital again with a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. My blood pressure was very high! The combination of high blood pressure and anticoagulant had caused the nose bleed. Since then I have seen a different GP and my blood pressure is now controlled with medication and I have had no further nosebleeds or any other side effects from Edoxaban.
Thank you so much for your reply. I tend to have low to normal blood pressure so hopefully I might avoid getting nosebleeds. The nurse said that some people have had rashes and she also said to look out for any bleeding when going to the toilet or coughing up dark coffee-like grouts, which I found alarming.
Hi,
Lixiana was my first NOAC. Supposed to be the best. I had:
bladder trouble, constantly irritated with blood
Iron dropped
paresthesia hands and face (=numb feeling)
my liver enzymes were higher than normal (2-3x)
lymph nodes throat constantly swollen and aching
in the end panic attacks (that was when I found out it had also interfered with and lowered my thyroid levels)
Does not mean this will happen to you. Everybody reacts differently.
Thanks for your reply. I currently have long term throat problems and now an ear infection, which i think are due to a very poor immune system. So your response, which included throat issues would be something I wouldn't want to back any worse. Did you change to a different NOAC?
Oops, typo above 'I wouldn't want to make any worse' it should say
I was on Dabigatran and developed a clot. Was put back on Warfarin. EP said to not go back on a NOAC until Edoxaban licensed. Have had no trouble with it for past 7 months.
Thank you for your reply.
Swapped from Wafarin to Edoxaban 3 months ago. No problems or side effects so far. Have cut myself a few times (DIY) and blood does seems to clot quite quickly.
I have been on edoxaban since November, it gave me an upset tummy for the first few weeks but I am side effect free now.
previously I had been on Riveroxaban (terrible side effects, red welts on skin and felt flu like) Dabigatran (coughing up blood, passing out, couldn't feel hands and feet)
Apixaban (felt awful, red welts all over body)
Happy that I haven't had to go down the warfarin route so far!
Thank you for sharing your experience of taking Edoxaban compared to some other NOACs.
