Having severe PVC’s and looking for advice. Had them the past 3 weeks now and do get breaks from them but feel they are getting worse. Kardia constantly reads sinus rhythm with PVCs. Tend to wake up with them and they are there when I go to sleep. Have tried the breathing exercise but doesn’t seem to work. Started taking two daily magnesium taurate from biocare a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know when they kick in, if they do? I have asked about pvcs previously and apologies for mentioning again but getting to my wits end. They make me feel so nauseous, just like when afib appeared pre ablation. Had some dizzy spells too. Can’t take anti sickness tablets as doc says they can interfere with heart as would need to take them everyday. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hello mate,I feel you.

Since my ablation in 2017, they are a constant companion. They come and go, sometimes none for days and then again. all over. And as some say, they can feel more debilitating than Afib itself. Breathing exercise helps sometimes, sometimes not. Holding breath and trying to press out the air helps sometimes. Magnesium, I take it but can't say if it really helps.

Lifestyle change is now on my agenda. Changing to a more plant based diet, no to very little sugar, no processed food. Alcohol and coffee I gave up years ago.

Let's see if that brings some change.

Fact is, you are not alone in this. Many of us are in a similar situation and we are all here to support each other.

May the force be with you

Cheers

J.

Thanks for the reply John. Going to keep trying with the breathing exercises as so many people on here swear by them so fingers crossed. Same with the magnesium taurate.

This forum has certainly been a help and so glad I found it.

Hope the plant based diet works for you

I can sympathise as well Ray. I get them constantly and some days much worse than others, had multiple tapes, 24/48/7 day and just had an angiogram to rule out any CAD/IHD as echo showed nothing serious, I have mild LVH however and now have well controlled BP. Am on 5mg of Bisoprolol but it doesn't seem to help. So am getting closer to why I get them but no definite answer at the moment.

I take the Biocare Magnesium Taurate as well and the jury is out for me, I did have some effect from them to start as they seemed to get better but may have been placebo, I still take them but still get some awful ectopic episodes, prior to sleep for me also, but never during sleep.

Food and alcohol definitely make them worse, I had a Chinese the other night and they kicked off big time. Also alcohol, seem to make them worse as well if I have any.

However by far and away the biggest culprit is worry/anxiety which seem to go hand in hand with them, you have them, you worry, they get worse, you worry, they get worse, you worry more etc etc.

As per the other poster, I think lifestyle choices maybe the way forward, reduce stress, no alcohol, no processed junk, etc.

However I would go and see the doctor first and get them caught on a tape or two, you'll know where you are then, Kardia is great for some arrhythmia's but I think for PVC's and PAC's you need a longer tape/ECG to at least work out the burden. I had a load during my angiogram last week, the interventional cardiologist didn't seem bothered in the slightest when I asked him!

Hope you get somewhere with them and try not to worry, in all likelihood they are benign but not nice at all I know, I hate the blasted things.

I agree that stress/worry definitely makes them worse. It’s so hard not to worry when you feel your heart thumping away and the sickness that comes with it too aaaahhhhhh but telling myself to stay calm.

Got a 24hr tape done and results were all PVC’s but cardiologist not concerned. Easy for them to say not to worry but I wonder if there is a cardiologist out there who has them?!?!

Gave up the drink when diagnosed with afib over 4 years ago and now a decaf coffee drinker.

Cheers

In regards to your ectopic episode after eating Chinese, perhaps next time, ask them to not add MSG to your meal. Maybe that was a trigger. MSG can cause headaches for some people. Maybe it affects the heart as well.

I wore an event monitor for 30 days which recorded of ectopics and a couple short AF episodes. Researched and found magnesium taurate. I take one capsule at lunch and one at dinner. My ectopics have subsided nearly 100%.

I used to have them so badly that I had to leave a job I loved. Post ablation they continued until I stopped eating or drinking anything with aspartame and sucralose. Also had to go gluten wheat free. Then they stopped and do not come back unless I get accidental exposure to these ingredients. A naturopathic doctor suggested I try going gluten free when it was so bad, I tried it and now free of heart problems since 2016. No meds either. The only other thing that sets them off now is alcohol which I rarely drink.

Hi Ray. I had an ablation to get rid of PVCs. It was successful. I told it was actually an easier procedure than an ablation for Afib. Maybe this is something you would like to investigate? Best of luck.

Thanks Modog, good to know. Got the ablation for afib and it was no issue at all. Just slight discomfort for a short period
