Will PFA fix ectopy & PVCs too?

IF I have a Pulsed Field Ablation for my Afib, will that also treat my ectopy and PVCs?

Or, are there separate treatments for ectopy and PVCs?

Some times ablations are performed for ectopic beats, although I’ve never heard of anyone getting an ablation to deal with AF and ectopics in one ablation. It’s really a question for your doctor.

Ectopics are a common thing post ablation and as we know are deemed benign. Slow deep breathing is very good at terminating them. Ablating for ectopics is extremely rare.

PFA may not be effective for all arrythmia, so I will be having a 48hr monitor and consultation before, that is if I decide to go ahead. All info welcomed ass I need to do more research before going onto a waiting list, still relatively new in UK.

Atrial ectopics (PACs) may be affected/ reduced/ eliminated by ablation in the atrium, just depends where they are coming from and whether they coincide with the anti-afib lesions made.

PVCs, as others have said, are different, coming from the ventricles, often in the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT), the collector of blood to feed it up to the aortic valve and out. These cannot usually be dealt with by the catheters in the atrium. Instead, they go (separately) into the femoral artery, up the aorta and over & down through the aortic valve. Even then, they are not easy to find and zap, as the ventricles are not hollow chambers and have tissue stretching across them in strings (see any online pic). It also depends if the PVCs are all from the same spot (unifocal, ablatable) or coming from many different places (multi-focal, much less ablatable)

Even if they were amenable to ablation, your EP would want to see how the atrial ablation comes out, first, and over a reasonable time period (months?).

I was left with ectopics after my 2002 and 2024 ablations, nicely controlled by Flecainide after the first, but a bit less amenable to Flec now, still in the experimenting-with-meds stage at present, but NSR as I write...

I was given an AV node node ablation 5 wks ago. After 3 wks i started feeling lousy and my doc put me on bp tabs because my bp had gone high. I had been off the metoprolol for 3 weeks because i now had a pacemaker. For some risen my bp went up so was put on candersarten. Straight away all the side effects of side effects of these tabs came back so ive been getting worse like i was before ablation. Today i went back to my doctor who had been away for a month. I asked her to put me on a different tab which she did. Im now on one ive never been on and i feel wonderfull tonight. It felodepine. COLIN NEW ZEALAND
