Hi MummyLuv

I am I. The US so I do t have any experience with the doctor you ask about but I am also scheduling to go see the expert Dr Wolf to take care of this AFib once and for all. I hope you have the best outcome whichever way you go!

He is excellent. I recorded my experiences of AF and hybrid ablation on here over the last fve years. Still AF and medication free. Look back over my posts.

I had a hybrid ablation last September in which Steven Hunter carried out the surgical side. It was organised by my EP, who did my third catheter ablation at the same time.

I’ve been very well since, my heart feels stronger than it has for years, no af.

I have a number of heart problems and I attribute this success to the 4 years treatment I’ve had from the whole Sheffield cardio team and my EP in particular. I don’t think there’s been one single answer for me.

SH carries out VATS MAZE surgery with LAA clipping. I think he does private work if you can’t get a national NHS referral, I’m sure he’d give you an honest opinion.

I think you have maybe left the forum now as can’t PM you but if you do read this a huge thanks for sharing your experience of Dr Hunter and for all the tips you gave me, you are a rock star! You and John gave me the reason I needed to switch to a surgeon here in the UK. What a man he is too! 🥰 thanks a million x

Thank you for sharing, I had a private consultation with Dr Hunter on Thursday. I liked him. It’s always good to get opinions directly from his patients :)

One of Dr Wolf’s former patients has set up a Facebook group and I feel I have learnt so much about the procedure and what to expect from recovery of the WMM there.

I am surprised that doctors names are discussed on this forum !I will keep quiet about the cardio surgeon that worked from Basildon and is now the subject of malpractice.!

Hi Bobbyalan, hope I haven’t breached any rules, not sure how else you find out if people are happy with their consultant. Dr Hunter has only started doing private work so does not have any patient ratings yet.

I have heard about Dr Wolf. He does (invented?) the mini maze doesn't he? Does Dr Hunter do the same kind of procedure? I didn't think anyone was doing it here. Although god knows why not! We could all do with options to fix this condition.

Dr wolf is the pioneer of minimally invasive surgical ablation. Dr Hunter does a keyhole version of the Cox Maze 4, which is similar but not identical to the wolf mini maze. Dr Hunter has started to practice privately through the keyhole heart clinic in London.
