Anyone see the program the other night on bbc.
A lady had massive operation. She had to have some scarring done before the main operation to stop the irregular heart beat. What type of ablation? Anyone see it

Yes saw the op I thought he did the scarring to create a better path fior the electric impulses from her node to be routed for her heart to beat more regular so I think it was an ablation. It was amazing to see what a fantastic recovery she made with 3 new /reconditioned heart valves.
I'm in Hawaii. I don't get much of the BBC. Special kind of ablation? As I'm on a waiting list for an ablation, you have me very curious. Somebody,.. Please...Tell me about it...
They replaced 3 heart valves, including one tucked away inside,it was quite epic, and she walked away.i think it was a bit more than an ablation, though that was part of the early part of the op.There is a British Heart Foundation video on ablation on YouTube which might be a help.Hope it goes well,

I was amazed that at 80 years old they gave her the op in the first place and didn't just say she was too old and in a rationed system younger people came first.
I'm afraid that when I watch these programmes I wonder if all that time and money could not be better spent on a lot of shorter operations. The week before they did a very long operation and then the patient died. This happened in the previous series too.
The surgeon said my hip operation would be in 3-4 months but that time has now passed. I am wondering if they are catching up on operations for cancer instead of more routine stuff. It's not a problem though as I am not in pain.
