Hi everyone

I was on digoxin before my first cardioversion in 2014, I’d been in persistent afib for 10 months since diagnosed probably much longer. I really liked being on it and felt much better for it.I was told to stop it two days before the cardioversion which worked for me for nearly five years with a few breakthrough episodes towards the end of that time.
Hope yours does as well for you : )
Thankyou for reply How are you now ?
I’m a bit nervous 😬
Ok at the moment ( touch wood ) had a dreadful four months in 2018 all over summer, horribly symptomatic, I was just just longing for a second cardioversion. On flecainade now to hopefully keep it away for as long as possible.2019 we were going to go out everywhere to make up for it lol.
I did not feel brilliant right after my first cardioversion, it took a good couple of weeks but I was still getting over a stroke. I remember seeing the nurse for a check up a while afterwards though and saying “I feel great!”
Don’t be nervous about your cardioversion, (easy to say, I was ) but both of them were easy peasy. I slept after both of them and they left me to come around, just take it easy afterwards. I had an 18 hour episode a few days after my second after just shuffling round the supermarket slowly and felt devastated but self reverted thank goodness.
How long have you been in afib?
Why did you have to stop digoxin two days before your cardioversion. I am on that med and having cardioversion next week. Nervous!
I got the impression it was a standard thing if you were on that drug, it was in a short list of instructions if I remember correctly. I did not ask why at the time, just stopped as asked. Have you been asked to stop it?
Hi Moonriver I wasn’t told to stop it but read on this forum to, so I sent a email to my cardiologist and asked, he replied I should.
The day of the Cardioversion- told them list of medication and I had stopped the Digoxin 2 days ago cardiologist said that’s good.
I was nervous having the Cardioversion but actually it was fine, put to sleep for short time woke up in NSR HR 50.
Them monitored for couple hours, had sandwich & drink went home.
Now taking it easy, due review Jan.
Good luck.
Let me know how you get on.
Well Mabel, I am very nervous. I had two, years ago and then an ablation which worked for seven years then flopped after chest infection couple of weeks ago. I will have to ask my cardiologist when I stop the meds. I also need to find someone to escort me home afterwards. My partner had a stroke so he can’t.
I was on warfarin so that was partly why I had to wait so long as had to have four weeks at the correct levels testing every week. Hopefully much better now I’m on apixaban.I’m really scared of getting Covid as illness brings on afib for me and the wait times for cardioversion must be much worse now than when I needed it.
Best of luck to you that it works well for you, I’d love to hear how you get on and what you thought of it.
Yes Mabel this is what my husband did too … good luck with your procedure do hope you feel better soon
Don't worry all will be ok good luck for the ablation
Yes that is normal.
