When does chest pain and breathlessness go away , is it normal for chest pain? , why do you get chest pain and breathlessness anyway?, silly question I know . Do the cardiologist always check for blood clots in your heart when ablation is done. Sorry for all the questions. Was to tired after ablation to ask.

Your heart has had quite an assault. Just because you don't have a giant zip up your chest doesn't make it easier.

If you have been antciagulated for a decent period (in my case three months) prior to the procedure they may not need to do a TOE (trans oesophageal echocardiogram) to check for any possible clots but this is often done anyway. There was a time when anticoags were stopped a few days before the procedure but in the last five years or so that is not the case and a/c is continued throughout for just that reason.

Thank you, I was on apixaban for a while before but they stopped it cause they said it could cause bleeding but I had to take edoxoban 3 weeks before the procedure. I am taking it easy though.

As the burning/freezing is circling your pulmonary veins I would be surprised if you didn’t have a bit of chest pain and breathlessness although not everyone does. I had a chest CT scan a couple of months after my ablation and a small pneumothorax was found - maybe a result of cough after ablation, who knows?

In my case, a few days after my ablation, I moved a potted plant a few feet and was struck down by severe chest pain. When I complained to my "electrician" that I had been damaged; not fixed, he referred me to the "plumber." Two weeks after my ablation I was on the table for a catheterization that found a blockage which was corrected via a stent placement. Rehab followed without return of the breathlessness or chest pain even when I pushed hard during exercise. Hope yours resolves without further procedures being necessary.

Thank you, in my mind I want to do everything now but my body reminds me that I can’t, it’s hard because I feel old and useless and I’m only 52 .Just want to go back to normal.

I had a few days of a sort of ache in my chest but I suppose my heart had had an assault and was trying to begin healing. I hope you feel better soon but if not get in touch with your doctor again asap. Best wishes :)
