What did they tell you in your discharge papers? I never had any problems and showered normally next day . Havn't had a bath for years.

Cheers Bob. Nothing on the sheet about washing / bathing. Just take the bandage thing off after 24 hrs. I’ll have a shower. Thanks again

Depends how the catheter site is . I was told to shower and keep water off the catheter site for at least 5 days . After a week my bruising has gone and the site is healed

Hello again lenlec.

I skipped shower the day after ablation but had one no problems following day. I was just careful around the puncture site and tried not too get it too wet.

I think shower would be the best bet personally as I wouldn’t want to completely submerge the area before it’s healed as may soften the skin too much.

Pretty sure it mentioned in my paperwork not to bathe for 2/3 days however like I say I did it no problem. Just be careful around puncture wound.

Wound should have healed enough after first week to the point where you won’t have to worry about it after 👍

After my first ablation, 10 years ago, I spent the following night in hospital. I got up in the morning and had a shower. When I left that day they gave me an aftercare information sheet which said no bending for a few days - too late I'd bent and washed my feet. I'm still alive to tell the tale.

if I were you Lenlec I wouldn't soak your groin wound and only shower for a week or so.

I always prefer a bath but I showered the next day ,didn’t let the shower near the wound (still had the thin dressing on) Had a bath the following day with no problems. The dressing came off itself on day 3 or 4.

Good morning, has to be a shower as I am not a bath type of person. I find a bath tends to make me quite sleepy whereas a shower is invigorating.

A shower is normally best and I had no problems with the groin wound

Best wishes

I had a shower on 2nd day after ablation. Patted myself dry and took old dressing off. Didn't use the spare dressing - wound had stopped bleeding. Took things easy for a couple more days and regularly checked wound site.

I'd think a week just to be sure

Hi lenlec, I bathed 2 days after my ablations but with a lower water temp than I usually have. Added a little antiseptic liquid for good measure.👍

I showered, a) to keep the wound reasonably dry and b) so I didn't do myself an injury by straining the groin getting in and out of the bath.
