Hello, following my Ablation at Liverpool 23th August 2015 my follow up notes said same Atrial Bigeminy...Not knowing what it meant l posted on here if l remember correctly it was answer by forum member " Finvola"...I am sorry but can't be more pacific but apparently quite common and nothing to concern yourself with...I am sure someone more knowledgable will answer shortly....
Thank you caromia . It’s reassuring knowing I’m not the only one . Did your settle down ? Did you take anything to help ? .
It took a good 12 months or more after the Ablation for things to settle..The osphosegus problem also ...
If you look back at my profile to 3 yrs ago you will see Finvolas reply...
What have l done to aid recovery - pretty much what you would expect after such an invasive procedure..
First and foremost Alcohol free.
Weight control .
Regular exercise ie walking and outdoor gym..
Supplements.
Magneseum
Vit B and D
Slippery elm
Like Bob says breathing to learn how to breath especially when walking or feeling anxious...
For first 28 months l was permanently attatched to my OMRON blood pressure monitor but not so much now..
When l feel BP rising l drink water and go for a walk which usually quickly reduces it to normal..
It's very frightening to feel your heart misbehaving....I spent the biggest part of my life not realizing I had a heart metaphorically speaking of course and now it's the most important aspect of my persona...
Good luck and look after yourself...
Carol..
Thanks you for your message Carole ,
Congratulations on getting better . Coming through it all . I’m taking all advice aboard. It’s just so hard to reflex with your heart skipping and fluttering away . I know what you mean about checking your blood presure .
Basically double ectopics explains it well. Still very early in your recovery so try not to worry. Three to six months from now you will be fine. For now gtry the slow deep btreathing exercise. Use search box top right for details if you haven't read about it yet.
Bob:
12 days after my ablation, I had AF for 5 hours. Do you think I will be fine in 3 months after the blanking period? Or am I in for another ablation. I have PACs all the time too. Sucks
Sorry to hear your going through a rough period aswell . It’s the not knowing if the ablation has worked. I’m hoping my heart will settle down soon .
Best of luck .
It's worked until it fails. There are unfortunately no guarantees.
As I said earlier, I have had my ablation (number 1) 19 months ago. It has ben a bit of a rocky road, and I convinced myself that I was back in AF at one point, because of the number of ectopics I was feeling every day.
But it has settled down, I still feel ectopics from time to time, but they last for a few seconds, some days I feel nothing (but on those days I am still expecting for something to go wrong)
So, for now mine has been a success, not the feeling nothing success I had hoped for, but I don't currently have AF or AFl.
This may change, and statistics say that it will, but until then I will try not to worry, and if it does all go wrong again I hope that I will be able to have another ablation.
Even though we have had ablations, we still need to look after ourselves and reduce our AF burden
Hi Mike ,
Congratulations on coming this far .
I know what you mean about feeling like your back in AF as the ectopics are so bad . The only way I get any relief is by walking around . I can’t do this all night I’m exhausted. I can’t wait for this to stop .
It really is far too early to say. Three top six months minumum as our ract sheet will tell you and many people are still imptobving at nine months. Be positive. This is all perfectly normal.
Hi, I developed this after ablation, it is worrying when it happens.
However I am now 19 months post ablation and have not suffered Atrial Bigeminy for probably 11 months or more. It's one of those things that you don't know when it stops but its nice that it has
I too had these ectopic/ bigeminy atrial beats for 6 months post ablation. Each month they got less and less.I am now on a holter monitor for the next two weeks so will see how many I actually have now.I feel them a few times a day only lasting a few seconds and don’t worry about them anymore.
Hi Mary thank you for your reply.
Did you take anything to help ? . I’m finding them quite distressing . They seem to be worse in the afternoon/evening. I’m pleased your feeling better.
Michelle.
Hi
I don’t have AF but last year had awful ectopics lasting hours every day doubles triples skip bump bloody awful ended up on bisoprolo which has so far helped enormously ! Couple of things helped stop
Sitting on a chair at the edge and bending
Over in half and after around 5 min they would end & not sitting for any long periods as when I got up especially after eating off they would go ( small meals)
X
I have the same thing (I made a separate post on this.) No more afib, but lots of Bigeminy. Very annoying. I'm increasing my dosage of flecainide on my EP's advice. Hopefully that works.
