Last evening I watched a TV show about IBS. The gist was a doctor trying to find if there was a way to cure this troubling condition.

What came out of it was that few doctors actually undertood what IBS was and in many cases it was thought that there were many things which combined to show IBS more as a group of symptoms that an actual disease.

Now where have I seen that before?

My niece was told she had IBS. Now she's dead, 35 year old mother of 3. It was cancer.

Sorry to hear devestating news.

Very sad it was misdiagnosed with such tragic outcome for your whole family. My mother died of Ulcerative Colitis when I was 3, it has affected my life. Losing a parent as a child is tragic but it’s not until adulthood you realise what you have missed out on.

Sorry to hear that CDreamer. Too say it must have been hard for you is an under statement.

Hi, would you say it is worth watching? Have recorded it but not viewed yet.

Worth a watch I would say.

I caught that as well but what I thought interesting was the poo gas test which was being developed which would help GP’s identify what foods to recommend or not.

That’s me living on water for the rest of my days then.?😳 everything single thing I eat contributes to further destruction of the ozone layer.??? 14 hectares of marshland has nothing on me when it comes to methane.😡

Bob, I had Ulcerative Colitis for over 25 years, getting worse as I got older. Started with PAF about 10 years ago and the Gastro Consultant told me there was a strong correlation (not Causation!) between UC and AF. She couldn't give me an explanation as to why, but apparently the correlation is widely recognised.

MY UC progressed to a full Colectomy in 2018 so I now have a stoma, sadly my AF is now persistent, awaiting ablation.

I think AF may be often a symptom of other problems rather than "just" a disease in its own right. I doubt there is much, if any, research being done into the relationship between IBS/UC and Atrial Fibrillation.

Thanks for all the advice in the forum.

cheers

Ron

I think there are interesting links between gut health and heart health via vagus / gut biome, etc. Certainly I've found that trying to improve my gut health has led to reduced af and lowered cholesterol levels.More research needed, but big pharma doesn't gain from funding it...

I think ibs is a dangerous diagnosis because GPs treat it as a final answer to all further symptoms. My ibs ‘disguised’ diverticular disease and kidney stones. Luckily not cancer as happened to my friend 😢

My wife and I both suffered from acid reflux etc etc, we started taking Kefir and added some fermented foods to our diet and it's all history now....recommend trying it, the gut is the foundation of good health, sort it and everything else gets better.

Bob, Found the program very helpful as it shows scans of what it actually happening inside your body when you get pain and then explains why.

All the best.
