Hi everyone, I had an ablation in March this year for AF and after a couple of AF bouts in the 3 month blanking period it has thankfully not returned. Thing is, 2 months after the procedure I started getting daily ectopics, well I think that’s what it is. The skips and the thumping feeling in the chest. I have always had a kardia monitor which showed possible AF, although always knew when I had it but felt the kardia was a reassurance when I thought the AF was away. I recently updated to the kardia care and thought it would show I was having PVC’s but it doesn’t. Constantly comes back as unclassified, even though I’m doing it correctly (3 years practice). I thought ectopics would show up as PVC’s. Now beginning to wonder it is something else but I admit I’m a worry wort since being diagnosed with AF. Would ectopics not show as PVC’s?

Thought it was ectopics
The Kardia will only indicate what the algorithm allows and although I know it now is able to indicate other arrythmias, really the only way of knowing for sure is to have the trace read by an expert. Are you able to email the trace to the clinic which performed your ablation? That’s what I did when unsure. I found that ectopics often preceded an AF so it could be that your heart is attempting to go into AF - almost like a hiccup? Just a thought.
Have you got the 6 L version?
If you’ve got Kardia care send it to them for analysis
..hi Ray as Kalgs says send it to Kardia it only cost me £5 to do this and the results were returned in 24 hours saying...
''.MULTIPLE ATRIAL ECTOPICS You have multiple extra beats originating from the upper part of the heart.
ATRIAL COUPLETS Your atrial extra beats occur in pairs''
At least I knew it was nothing worse...
If you have updated your Kardia care there may be no charge when you send it off.
Hi I’ve had my ablation in may and had a few possible AF recordings on my Kardia but also lots of unclassified which on previous analysis by Kardia are ectopicd. My understanding but I may be wrong is that ectopicd are not something to get worried about so that’s the way I’ve viewed them. Don’t know if that’s helpful or not?
I heard that ectopics are benign and nothing to get too concerned about also. I thought the Kardia would record the ectopic but then was confused when I got unclassified. Did your kardia say ectopics first?
My Kardia recorded unclassified and when I paid for it to be analysed by Kardia it came back on each occasion (2-3 times) as ectopics each time so now I’ve assumed each time it suggests unclassified that its ectopics……
I have 'Advanced Determinations' with Kardia app and the two lead reader. I can identify my own PVC's but it takes a couple, sometimes three or more for that determination to auto-diagnose. Same with PAC's. One or two and it still shows NSR. Puts my mind at ease but apparently the algorithm does not trigger those results unless there is ectopic 'activity', not a single occurrence...?
