Thanks. I’m about to take my first Flec and amnervous about it…hair loss, heart rate increasing. That’s what I’m reading in this forum. You seem to have positive things to say. Last night I would have done anything to end the episode, now I have misgivings. I will do it. I hope no negative results. 🙏🏼
I think a day of reckoning may come with Flecainide but to date after 7 yrs taking 200mgs daily, which has kept me (with Lifestyle changes) almost entirely AF free, I can't attribute with confidence any downside issues.
No downsides? I hope not. I’m taking my first dose tonight. Will take 50 mg twice a day. That’s when I get the episodes. I also take Eliquis 5 mg twice daily and metoprolol 25 mg in morning and 12.5 mg at night. I count on being positive.
My cardiologist favours regular daily flecainide rather than just when episodes occur. I wanted to take it as a PIP due to its strength and potential side effects but it is an old tried and tested drug and I have to say he has been right as I have had no problems.
So far, taking Flecainide 50 mg twice a day and metropolol, as well as Eliquis has been miraculous. I started this regimen two days ago with the added Flec. No episodes yet, not a single off blip. I’m reading more about it and that seems to be the recommended combination. I’ll see the EP In 3 days to an EKG. Feeling fine and I hope it reads that way too. Thanks for the support.
Please keep us posted on how pulse field ablation goes for you. Lots of positive press on it, and I know a number of people on this board who are trying to hold out until that is widely used. Good luck!
Just discharged from hospital after pulsed field ablation. Doctors showed pix of before and after. Amazing results, hopefully clinical trials will definitely show FDA this is the future of EP. It will change the entire field of ablation.
NO chest pain at all. Only pain was from the 2 groin puncture wounds and that was minimal. Amazing how they can STITCH a vein afterward. Since this is a clinical trial, I better not disclose the location but one of the major hospitals in this pulsed field ablation trial.
Great to hear. Looking forward to hearing how the recovery goes in a few weeks. Was your study one that you were blind on whether they were doing Pulse Field or RF? Or not able to say? I have read about that one being done at a place local to me.
Google it and you’ll find out all you’ll need. It’s the newest method of electoporation (ablation) that will be changing the entire field of electrophysiology.
