Post pacemaker problems?

Pacemaker installed on wednesday. Since then i have rested in hospital then travelled 400k home. Tonight i am getting heavy palpitations as i type. Late this afternoon i walked ove to the supermarket and after only 100M i developed heavy palps and pain in chest and sides and slowed down with laboured breath. Same thing on way home. Later tonight i went for short ealk to test and same thing. I s this normal for my situation or is a program no right. Anyone else experience this ? The pacemaker implant went well and i slept well last night.

I think maybe check in with your healthcare provider. It could be to do with how the PM is set. They will be able to allay any fears and get you in if required to be seen.

No it doesn’t sound normal.

I had problems initially and it was found that one of leads was triggering my diaphragm which meant I couldn’t breath properly and felt really big thumps in my chest. It was like having constant hiccups x 10. It was a couple of days before I could get an appointment with the PM clinic but as soon as it was adjusted, it went away.

It could be the setting or it could be that a lead has slipped.

Sounds similar Cdreamer. Im great lying down but moving only at a snail pace aint no fun. This is a rate sensitive dual chamber pm and apparently reacts to such things as breathing , motion, and even emotions. Amazing tech. We so blessed to live in such an age. I think you may be on to it as i only saw the pm adjusted when i was lying down ???thank you for your great reply.

Thankyou everyone. I had a super sleep last night. I have contacted Auckland hospital and they said i need to go to the closest hospital. I will do another test walk this morning to see if it comes on again.

Hi, I had one fitted 4 years ago and the same happened to me, this is because fine tuning/pacing is needed to regulate together with drugs to stop heart rate going too high as in A/F, once the right balance has been achieved all should be well. Good luck x

I had a CRT pacemaker implanted in October 2019 but did not have any problems so getting yours checked seems the way to go.

Do you think maybe you are doing too much to soon. You need to avoid lifting and stretching with your left arm. Any procedure is a shock to the body.l would say pamper yourself and give your body time to get over it. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. I think if you rush it , you can set yourself back and then take longer to get better.
