Hi everyone. I am pretty new to this and managed to put my first post on the weight loss site! I'm heading for an AV node ablation a d already I have seen some very positive posts regarding this. Thank you to those who have put their experiences on here to help the likes of me. It's scary and unknown but I have more insight now and I do feel calmer. Thank you 🤗

It's good to hear that some of the posts on here have helped you Adalaide. I've not had an AV node ablation myself, but hope someone will soon be along who has and can advise you.

Jean

Hope all goes well for you. I’m having a Pacemaker on June 30th and an AV node ablation a month to six weeks after. Like you I’ve found it so helpful to read of other people’s experiences here. Good luck to you x

Well, unusually I just had a second one on Wednesday. After the first one my health changed dramatically for the better and I was looking forward to getting my life back, however I then seemed to regress and was feeling quite poorly again when I went for my post ablation pacemaker check. This showed the ablation had failed and the AF was still in the background and I was having Ectopics. So, I have had it repeated and fingers crossed.

It is quite rare forthis to fail, and I was just unlucky (the surgeon did struggle the first time to hit the right spot). We assume the node was 'stunned' into submission and later went on to recover.

Anyhow, the procedure itself is a little uncomfortable but not enough to put me off a second round, and I had a glimpse of how life could be and it was good. Just waiting for my body's reactions to settle then I'm looking forward to a new life.

How long did you feel well for? And then how long did you have to wait for the 2nd one? I have heard so much positive news but as you say 'unusually ' it didn't work. Regards A

I was well for only a week. It was 4 weeks post ablation when I had the pacemaker check and a few days after that when my EP rang to ask how I felt about having it done again. I then only had to wait 3 weeks so I was lucky.

I am disappointed for you. But as you say the waiting does seem to be minimal. Again wishing you every success this time. Regards A
