Sip hot water frequently. My reflux took many months to resolve after the TOE during the ablation.

Avoid eating anything for a while that contains fat or vinegar and it will soon heal. Oh yes, don't wear a tight bra or tight clothing either.

Hope you soon feel better.

Just remembered, don't eat yogurt either - that's an odd one isn't it, but I've been where you are.

Which A/C are you on?? Pradaxa (dabigatran) is known to cause reflux in some people ( it did not do so for me) .

My reflux shows up as a really annoying cough when I lay down to sleep, very rarely get a heartburn feeling. I take one omeprazole about an hour before my evening meal. I went on it as I get dreadful indigestion symptoms of trapped wind in my chest when in afib. I take two a day then.

I read somewhere that decaf coffee helps ( sorry, I cannot remember where ) so tried this and it’s been a big improvement.

I have three decaf coffees a day using Oatly barista milk, you don’t need much for a creamy taste, and they are a real treat, I haven’t liked any other oat milks I’ve tried.

Jeanjeanie saying don’t have yogurt is a bit of a blow, I’ve just gone on propafenone and you have to take it three times a day with food which means having something just before bed so have just bought some lovely little pots of Greek yogurt, going on it next week will have to see how I go on.

Will have a look at those thanks, I did try an oatly yogurt but was not that keen (and very expensive). The creamy Greek yougurt in small pots that I’ve bought from Lidl is lovely, not sweet but something I would look forward to if I had to eat something late on, I would much prefer not to but needs must.

Hi MaisieI had an Ablation on the 1st December and although I had Reflux beforehand it was so much worse afterwards and causing AF.

I managed to see a Gastroenterologist and he changed my medication schedule from 2 Pantoprazole in the morning to one twice a day and also using Gaviscon Advance particularly at bedtime gradually my symptoms have improved but took 3 months.

Also stopped using Yogurt on advice from one off our members that helped.

Good luck

Yes, u may want to consider cutting out coffee, or drink it occasionally if the reflux permits. A daily coffee definitely worsens my mom's reflux.

Mom's on 20mg omeprezole daily, plus gaviscon when symptoms increase.

Best wishes.

We put four inch blocks of wood to raise the head end of the bed and I haven't had reflux since.

Water is good because it's non irritant. Just be careful with temperature. If you can hold your finger comfortably in the water then it's not too hot. At times we all eat and drink things at temperatures that can damage a sore oesophagus. Hope that helps 😀

I have posted many times to check out Dr Sarah Myhill in Wales. She has a theory about reflux. Also Dr. John Bergman in California. The drugs can make it worse. Apple cider vinegar works for me and others to whom I know have tried it. I have not seen feedback from anyone on this site who may have had success with these doctors suggestions.

The cocktail of drugs many people take may be part of the cause. The stomach can only do so much.

Do you have ulcers? PPIs were meant to treat erosive gastritis/ gastrin tumours / ulcers. medicalnewstoday.com/articl... The intention was to take them for six weeks only but it’s become common practice to use it for reflux. It’s a catch-22 as it suppresses acid so your body makes more acid! Most can wean off PPIs slowly (refer to pdf ronnyallan.net/wp-content/u... ) but first change diet to avoid fatty/sugary foods. If carrying extra weight that’ll need addressing. Sorry ... anti PPIs ... my brother took them for 30 years with no review of their efficacy and he developed pancreatic issues (IPMN) and heart disease. Specialists blamed the long term use of PPI. Glad it’s being investigated now!
