Have you ever used a patch to record the rhythm of your heart at home?

We think diagnostic technologies like this can be especially useful during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing a patient to first have a telephone/video consultation before the patch is sent direct to their home.

Zio is a promising new ECG patch which can be worn for up to 14 days. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has just recommended it as an NHS option for people with suspected cardiac arrhythmias who would benefit from ECG monitoring for longer than 24 hours. NICE says Zio XT is convenient and easy to wear and gives doctors more information to help with a diagnosis, compared with standard 24 hour Holter monitoring.

But we want to know what you think.

If you’re based in the UK and have worn one, or think you would like to, we would love to talk to you. Please contact us by calling 01789 867502 or emailing info@afa.org.uk

Royal Brompton arranged for a different type to be sent from a firm in Yorkshire for 72 hour monitor last week . Similar size but two pads and very efficient organisation. Delivered and collected by courier and a video to watch explaining how to fit it so no problems. Still itched like mad! You can shower but not swim by the way.

I had one of these did have to pay private which was worth every penny as I had the standard 24hr ECG which showed nothing, this confirmed PAF. It was not uncomfortable ,could shower easily, sent the whole device back in the post.

Would love to try one. Only ever had a 24 hour holter one and that was years ago. I feel sure “odd” things are going on that are too quick for a kardia. I’d even shave my chest Bob, even though I’m female!
