I'm new to this Community. I had Covid from early December until almost Christmas. A recent visit with my electrophysiologist revealed my lungs sound as if I'm a smoker (I'm not) or I have bronchitis, due to the effects of Covid. My visit was to find out why my a-fib episodes have ramped up recently. Has anyone else in this community experienced more a-fib episodes after having Covid? Thanks to all.

A-fib and Covid.
Here in UK we have two TV doctor brothers and one of them caught covid 19 and developed AF.
Back in the early days in Italy it was apparent that some people presenting with covid 19 also had new onset AF so yes there is a connection.
Another reason we take all possible steps to avoid catching it.
I had suspected Covid last March which put me in ICU on oxygen and in persistent AF for the first time. Previously I’d never been in hospital or had any heart problems and was a fit 37 year old.
Pneumonia is a known cause of AF and despite recovering from the infection with my lungs now ok, my AF has returned as it often does so I’ve learnt.
So there is very much a link and the doctor documentary Bob mentions was rather familiar to me and my experience!
I read only yesterday about this longer-term problem of having pneumonia from Covid. The article's writer stated that "it can take three months to a year or more for a person’s lung function to return to pre-COVID-19 levels".

I would pay if you can to see somebody privately re Long Covid. One practitioner who has done work on this is naturedoc.co.uk/tag/covid-19/ PS I have no commercial or personal connections with any recommendations, which are made simply to make responses more useful, hopefully!
Thanks -- I read your link to naturedoc.co. Very informative.
Read all you can by Dr's. Mercola and Brownstein. They've had patients who's doctors gave up on them with C-19. They couldn't breathe .... were afraid they were goners. Within a 'day' of alternative, inexpensive treatment ... they were on the way to healing.
An Holistic Approach to Viruses ... is a book by David Brownstein MD. I read it. A real eye opener. Mercola MD has utube videos and articles about healing C-19.
In my personal experience, mainstream med is 'wrong' about many treatments, especially when it comes to chronic disease. Good Luck! with your recovery. Once you get the right info ... I'm sure you will have a great outcome.
Btw ... I'm in the USA, too. I always fly to the world-class EP's for my ablations and arrhythmia treatment. Not going with the local experts in my town.
I'll check out the reading material you recommended. I'm all for holistic, but in my humble opinion I think our bodies have been changed through the centuries from all the harms of modern society, and holistic doesn't do the trick anymore as it would from someone of a past time. Only my view, of course! Thanks for your input -- much appreciated!
Taking a wholistic view does not discount modern medicine and procedures but the latest thinking on ‘curing’ AF takes the view that we AF’ers need to be proactive.
It’s long been recognised that virus can ‘light the fire’ of inflammation causing long term damage to the body. In the 1970’s we had a influenza epidemic and with which I was seriously ill for 3 weeks and took many months to recover. I believe that a lot of the conditions that I now have, including AF, started with that infection. In those days we called it Post Viral Fatigue Syndrone, nowadays it would be Chronic Fatigue.
My EP (UK) has just started a Long COVID clinic to research the affects of COVID and AF as well to support sufferers. I am sure if you searched around you would find similar in US. Finding an EP who will take a wholistic viewpoint is most helpful and you may find this thread informative healthunlocked.com/afassoci...
