Follow up on the slightly swollen face

Everyone has been so kind. I've got back from the dentist and after a long old search, X rays etc, he can't really find anything and he suggests it will settle down on its own. He suggested it might be a muscular thing, grinding my teeth or something.

I appreciated his not diving in straight away and letting it sit for a while. Of course if it hurts, or if it gets worse I'll get it sorted straight away.

The good thing about going to the dentist is that you can be seen on the same day which would be a bit of a big ask these days, with GP surgeries so busy.

But thank you all for your kind concern.

Katie

My dentist took three weeks or so to see me and that only because I had broken a piece off one of my teeth. He did a temporary filling and I am going back in the summer when they start doing regular appointments.

Oh no! That's awful! I do go privately, so the visit cost me £50. But worth it, I must say. x

Oh well, as I didn't mind waiting it only cost me about £23.

I'm on Denplan so regular check ups and hygiene visits are covered.

Good news that there is nothing showing up and hopefully it will settle down. It's also useful to be under monitoring in case you need it. xx

I felt very reassured I must say. He took ages to talk me through it all and show me the X rays etc. x

Like you Katie I had a problem with a swelling on my lip and have a friend with mouth cancer. I rang my dentist and was seen the same day and totally reassured. I paid £80 which was worth every penny to put my mind at rest. It was a type of cyst. The rest of my mouth had a good check up too.

they deal with a lot of things like that, don't they? And so easy to ring up and make an appointment. Getting a GP appointment takes days and days and I didn't really think my condition warranted it. Glad you're ok!

Could it possibly neuralgia? Is it painful? I had this years ago on the right side of my face and was given the most awful little tablet to dissolve against my cheek - tasted disgusting but did the job.
