left side of my face slightly swollen and slightly warm

Good morning! I know we're not medically trained but I've had this on and off and sometimes I possibly don't notice, but in the morning the left side of my face is a bit swollen and a bit warm.

I don't want to bother the doctor if it's just a side affect of Fleccainide or Bisoprolol or something. But if anyone's heard anything about this which indicates I should see help, please tell me!

No pain involved. I've had Afib a few years and I'm 68.

Not a side affect that I’ve heard of before. I know there’s no pain, but maybe worth seeing a dentist.....or perhaps you slept awkwardly.

Thank you! Probably easier to get an appointment with the dentist. I saw the hygienist before this lockdown as I thought that was more important than a check up. I might try that.

Thank you for your rapid response!

I had an abcess which brewed up slowly with no pain ,similar symptoms ..it was only when it got really going that I realised what it might be ! Well worth checking out....

Best wishes x

Oh thank you! It doesn't sound as if it's the side affect of a drug, does it?

Might be an allergic reaction to your washing powder.

Accept I never sleep on the side in case it sets my Afib off. Think I need the dentist! x

My EP warned me never to assume that a medical problem is a side effect of drugs but to get the problem assessed and dealt with if necessary. Good advice, especially as we are taking powerful drugs and it is easy to dismiss problems which may worsen.

I hope you can get your problem identified - to my unqualified mind, it sounds like an infection of some sort. Best wishes.

Thank you very much for this. I think an X ray would show if anything is brewing, and then I can take it further. I hate to bother the doctor at the best of times which these are not! But I will! Katie

Definitely sounds like an abscess to me. Get to a dentist before it gets worse, the pain is intense, comes in waves and is debilitating.

In the meantime take paracetamol. Salt wash your mouth if you can tolerate it, maybe twice a day, especially after eating.

Good luck!

I'm going to have it checked out ASAP but so far I have no pain. I really hope this happy state continues! Thank you for your reply. Katie

Hey, did you go a dentist and have it checked? Please let us know.

Yes I did. I did post on here but may be you missed it. He was very thorough and thought it would settle down on its own. He took X rays etc. It's fine now. But my mind has been put at rest. Katie

Possibly a sinus infection?

I'm hoping an X ray will reveal all. So far it's painless.

OK Good luck.

I had pulpitis in a tooth that caused that, no pain just a dead tooth, could be something dental as not always painful.

Personally I’d call my GP in those circumstances. I’ve had something similar a couple of times and it was an ear infection and cleared up with antibiotics. You’re GP should look at all possible options. All the best.

As you say we’re not medical, but it certainly doesn’t sound as if it’s anything to do with tablets. Perhaps a funny way you’ve slept on your pillow or maybe something to do with your teeth????? Hope all sorts itself out for you soon
