Low temperature, under 18 degrees, affects my AF and Ectopic Beats. It makes me feel very sick like fainting/collapsing. Wondering if anybody else experiencing same.

Hello queseyo. Sorry to hear about your problems with cold weather. To some degree I find the same, although not quite as badly. We keep the house at 21 degrees C. Even then I feel really cold at times, but find that if I eat some starchy or sugary food it helps, as does exercise. I also wrap a blanket around me if I am sitting down. I am lucky to have a down coat and a pair of gloves intended for outdoor pursuits, which are very warm.
Having said that, if it persists you need to discuss it with your doctor or cardiologist. I suspect it is a problem with your circulation or blood sugar, caused by the Afib or your medication.

I just came to realize since living here that the low temperature I used to enjoy it doesn’t any more. I much, much older now with lots of weight lost plus meds for AF which interfere with everything. I can’t exercise at all now and it seems that the blood runs slow with not much oxygen supplying the body. 21 degrees C as you mention is above what I like but I must change my old thinking, for sure. Even siting down, I have to wear globes. Probably I’m overdue for a full Blood count test and I will mention to my Cardiologist next appointment Thanks, Spinners, for your sensible comment, it helps
It may be that your blood flow is reduced and, your body responds to lower temperature by reducing the blood flow to your extremities including your brain. Earlier this year I had low blood pressure with vertigo and was taken to A&E in an ambulance. They had a lot of difficulty in getting blood out of my arm. Additionally, the low blood flow meant that my body was getting insufficient oxygen and, even talking whilst in a hospital bed caused the blood oxygen to fall. Full marks to a doctor who got me talking so that she could see the effect on blood oxygen.
That is very helpful, probably all the meds I'm on that keep my HB low also keep circulation low and no enough oxygen get to body, and brain. Then feel sick and dizzy as passing. Should stress it out to my Cardiologist next visit later in January. Thanks a lot for the sensible comment.
Just so you won’t feel too alone, I get a lot more irregular beats when I am cold and get chilled. I have to have some hot soup or take a long hot shower to warm up and that seems to help me a lot. I have noticed for many years, even before I got afib, that cold weather seemed to exacerbate irregular heart beats. Not sure why that is?!
Really glad to hear I’m not alone. Yes, I have to get warmer clothes on and have same hot drink, even a glass of water what I cannot drink it cold such as those hospitals bringing in first thing in the morning…Thanks, dmjtanner, for response 👍
