Proof and hope are quite different.
I’ve never trusted anything that ‘proves’ this or that. I think it more prudent and precise to say there was no evidence supporting the theory, or am I being too pedantic? Prove and cure are terms I take with a very large pinch of salt unless working with cultured foods.
But then neither did I have any expectations that VitD and Marine oil would ever help AF. May help with brain function, but not heart.
From the article, more like proven not to help 😥
The most important reason to take vit D is for overall health and at the moment for it's modulatory effect on the immune system . Apart from anything else this was a badly designed study as participants were all given 2000iu of vitamin D . Given the wide disparities in vit D absorption it is perfectly possible that a higher dose for some participants might have resulted in the opposite conclusion. Vit D studies that do not prescribe to correct levels in individuals to a given level are inferior and their results cannot be relied upon. Unfortunately doing it this way is very difficult for a double blinded study. Although the subjects may not know whether they are getting the vit D or the placebo the researchers have to take blood tests and determine dosages for those in the vit D arm.
Vitamin D is essential for bone and muscle health apart from anything else . These things are generally doing some good somewhere
Are they? Always? Or building up in tissues? Do you remember when folk thought you couldn’t have too much VitC? That didn’t build up but was a bladder and bowel irritant with some very bad outcomes for some.

I always take things in moderation I think mega doses of anything are a mistake as equally I would never try anything without a strong evidence base but I don’t think a multi vitamin and. mineral won’t do harm to the vast majority .
That's why it needs to be taken in conjunction with vitamin K2!
