Good day everyone, I am a 41 year old male with Afib and an enlarged heart . I have had a pulmonaryveinisolation procedure but I am still having problems and have been back in afib and some wide complex tachycardia and passing out in my lap . I just purchased the Kardia recording device and I am wondering if anyone else uses it , and wondering how accurate the 6 lead style is ? Thanks for your time ....😊

I don’t know anything about the 6 lead version but all Kardia’s are recognised by most medics for producing accurate reports. Hopefully others with more specific experience will respond soon........

Yes, great gadget, very accurate & my EP accepts traces I used to send. A lot of forum members use it. I have a 6 lead but to be honest the 1 lead is really all you need for AF & AFl.

I purchased the one lead 2 years ago and it is a wonderful invention. It will tell you if you are having afib or determinate (a-flutter). My sister had worked in ICU and claims the one lead is all you need. You would need a 12 lead to be able to see if you have any other problems. I just came across a website today called "StopAfib.org". There was a conference in USA in Oct. 2020 and there are many lectures from prominent MD's you can explore.

I 've had the two lead for quite a few years now (when it was called Alivecor) and found it to be great. If I have episodes I can confirm my thoughts I'm in Afib and I've shown these traces to both cardiologists and A&E and both were impressed. My cardiologost thinks it's great and recommends it. Kardia is also being considered as a cost effective alternative to other diagnosis in the determination of Afib by the NHS. I would not be without mine. It has helped so much to calm my anxiety When I was first diagnosed I constantly worried I was having another episode but being able to monitor with the Kardia was so reassuring

You can also have your trace reviewed by a clinician for £5

I would strongly recommend it. I don’t think it matters much whether you have the 1 lead or 6 lead version. It’s recommended by the British Heart Foundation and my GP has one for patients. Its main value imo is that you can take readings if you have new symptoms and email them to medical professionals. You can also send them to Kardia for evaluation. The device is highly accurate.

just to add my agreement the device is really good and has helped my Consultant to know what is going on with my heart. I have the two lead version and it hads been great.

one word of caution if you have a tendency to worry overmuch don't use it too much! at first I was a bit obsessed so I try to use it regularly but sparingly

Hey Fryguy, I'm in Australia and purchased the 1 lead Kardia (not sure if the 6 lead version is available here). It's a wonderful piece of technology! I have sinus node dysfunction so I get other arrhythmias besides AF. Kardia shows if I'm in bradycardia or tachcardia.

I have a lot of ectopic activity (PACs and so forth), and often it takes a few attempts for me to get a valid reading on the Kardia. Then again, I don't just have AF. My condition is more complex so the device sometimes can't tell me what's happening.

And it's not just about your arrhythmia. It tells you your heart rate. I had a stroke 2 years ago, so heart rate is of prime concern to me.

Good luck with it. You will work out what sort of use suits you (e.g. taking regular readings at the same time each day or using it on an as-needs basis).

Cheers from down under.

Hi Fryguy,..... I bought the £99 Kardia while still having a week long Holter meter fitted. All tests picked nothing up as I had no episodes at any of those times.

When I did get some episodes, I used the Kardia & it showed possible AF, this was confirmed by my GP after emailing him the results.

Have now seen cardiologist & have Paroxysmal AF & am being treated.

These are a great bit of kit & well worth the money.

Wishing you all the best.

I just purchased the 6L last month and it's great. I also have had watches with an ECG function (both Samsung and Apple) and I think the Kardia produces the clearest results, especially if you want to send something to your cardiologist or EP. It is totally worth it for folks with a heart rhythm condition. The only thing I dislike is you need to turn off NFC on your phone before it will take a reading (at least for android users). I use mobile pay a lot so I usually have NFC enabled but it's easy enough to toggle off.
