My hospital MD team decided on an ICD. Fitted May 2019. No problems since. Great! Real problem is - I phoned Medtronic to check a reading or two to be sure that it had been working OK. It turns out that the ICD was never ever registered to the hospital!
Unprotected by the monitor for two and a half years!! Not very happy.

Of course, BobD, I would have known alright. But, given that the ICD was not registered at my pacing clinic since when they gave it to me, the monitor sitting there was totally inactive. Surely, somewhat shocking, that. By the way, apologies for my maths. Senior moment ...
Another senior moment - my ICD was inserted actually in May 2018, not 2019. So, two and a half years of vulnerability.
Anyway, Medtronic offered immediately following several local tests to send me a new Monitor (dud battery in my current reader) and the hospital have sorted their end. Both parties were extremely polite and accommodating. Good fortune - all's well that ends well.
