Yesterday as we were lying in bed the wife turned to me and suddenly experienced a 10 out of 10 pain in her chest under her left breast. The pain remained at that level so I dialled 999 and the paramedics attended. The pain subsided to a dull ache whilst they were at home but as the pain was still present they took her to A&E.
Many hours later I was allowed to collect her . The doctors best suggestion was that as she turned she caught something against her ribs.
NHS was marvelous but has anyone else suffered this?
It's not Angina as she had a CT Angiogram in January which was all clear but GTN spray did seem to help. She does suffer from PAF but no recent episodes and was due to have Bisoprolol dose reduced as becoming Bracicardic.
Thanks

I can’t offer much other than to say you did all the right things and it’s good news that you had a positive outcome. I guess there could be a number or reasons such as trapped nerves, acute indigestion or even a bruised rib caused by a severe knock (but I think she would remember that!). Hope everything settles now, must have been quite an ordeal......
Thanks CDreamer. I think it's a coincidence but her Bisoprolol was tripled by hospital 16 months ago during a weeks stay due to her AF not reverting. Shes since lost 2 stone but her resting BPM had dropped to mid to low 40s and GP was concerned and were just about to revert to the original dose to start finding the sweat spot between AF episodes and a reasonable resting BPM.
I used to get severe chest pain caused by undiagnosed and untreated gastro oesophageal reflux disease, also lots of indigestion. My heart was thoroughly checked at the time and was fine, although the Gord did lead to me developing AF. There are several other potential causes for chest pain and if it recurs she should see her GP.
