Quick recap after increasingly frequent and long episodes of 7 days or more I had my first ablation on july 10 this year.
This first procedure changed my arrhythmia so that it moved from chaotic at bpm of 120-130 to more “ organised” at 140-160. This was mainly atrial flutter and as such not really responsive to drugs to get heart to beat around 110 took 6-8 Mg of bisoprolol which made me feel terrible
So today I’m having ablation 2 under general anaesthetic and I must confess I lied to the group. ....I said after ablation 1 I would happily have another if needed..... well I am actually far from happy! I am really anxious and slept fitfully the past 2 nights . Main reason is for the past week I have been in NSR and ( under advice) stopped taking my anti arrhythmia meds .. so I feel great! It seems I am going to electively take a few steps back
But this is the right thing to do so i am as hairless as a fish on my chest and groin and sat trying to be optimistic
I will keep the group updated

Hope all goes well and this time, is successful. Flutter maker you feel terrible I found but is easier to ablate than AF.
Best wishes for speedy recovery.
PS - I completely relate to the misgivings when in NSR the days before, mine where so that I manifested all sorts of cold like symptoms to avoid my 2nd ablation, but my husband had none of it and drove me to the hospital where all the swabs I had came back negative. Amazing what the mind can do.
Have just read your post and so pleased you are through the procedure ok. I am having my ablation on Monday at Barts and am absolutely terrified! I’m not usually a scardy cat but everything about this procedure is stressing me out. I can’t sleep, on the toilet all the time and can’t help but focus on the ‘what ifs’. I’m in 2 minds whether to actually go through with it. it’s so good to hear you are ok it gives me great hope. Please do keep updating the group. There are such lovely people on here.
I felt the same as you but was pleasantly surprised as how smooth it all was, I am waiting for my third and feel OK about it which I can't believe I 'm actually saying. Good luck with it all and just focus on the healing time and not the actual day.
Hi I do hope all goes well with ablation no.2. My experience of bisoprolol was very bad. As I already have very low blood pressure it made it worse & I can’t take it. When I did I felt aweful made me feel most unwell. It doesn’t suit everyone I know there’s people that think it’s the best thing but for me a big no no.
It’s about typical to go back into NSR when having anything done - I’m sure our hearts know hehe!! But they will find any flutter during the ablation although when I had mine 2 years ago the consultant kept chasing it and as fast as he ablated it jolly well went back into flutter it took twice as long as but he persevered and finally won the battle. I’ve been great ever since I just now have my ectopics to and tachycardia and low blood pressure to deal with and I have a duel chamber pacemaker - and we shall all have fun!!
Seriously I really do hope this time you get your flutters sorted!!
Same thing happened at my ablation. During my RF for atypical flutter, the EP ablated a circuit and the circuit would morph into another one. Four circuits were ablated in a long procedure. He said they had to stop and did not ablate the fifth circuit. They (two EPs) decided to terminate ablation after four cardioversions to get me back to NSR and see what happens clinically. I was good but 10 months after ablation I had a 10 day episode after much stress in my life and went back on propafenone. OK so far but EP wants me off AAD. I have already had a cryoablation for afib.
day 1 after and I am allowing myself a tiny smidgen of optimism, just a few ventricle ectopics but on no rhythm drugs only anticoagulant and no need to cardioinvert after they finished yesterday
thanks for your kind wishes and I so agree about the heart having a mischief mode before tests & procedures
