Hi all. Sorry I haven’t written sooner but my iPad broke! Disaster! Anyway trying out my new one as we speak.
Well ablation carried out Thursday. The procedure was fine. I felt some chest and jaw discomfort for a short while but the worst thing was feeling nauseas for a few hours as a result of all the sedative drugs. Anyway apart from that it went smoothly. I have had a lot of af since but it’s low rate and no additional symptoms. So can’t complain.
Today day 4 , I’m a bit breathless and weak. Again nothing too troubling.
I’ve had some mild episodes of funny flashes in vision but new about that so didn’t worry me 😄
All in all I’m doing really well and it wasn’t as scary as I expected. Hope this helps others x

That’s really good to hear. I hope you continue to improve and your AF stays at bay. I can’t have an ablation so it’s a Cardioversion but mine kicks off, I’m now looking at transplant
Hi buddy2blue. Have you had cardioversion ? I hope that does work for you. Thank you for your good wishes. I hope you find some resolution in either cardioversion or transplant. Please keep in touch for some support my friend. We all need it. Much love x
Thank you. I’v had 8 Cardioversions so far. They have Tried me on a couple of new meds but one didn’t work and the other me feel dreadful. So a new ticker is my only option I have left. I’m also on 2Lr of oxygen on a night and in heart failure. Apart from that I’m doing well lol
Bless you my friend I will cross all my fingers and toes for you so you get a new heart very soon. Please let us know when you get the call. Love and hope xx
I will do. It will be a long wile as I’m not on the list yet. Everything is been put back I’ll put on hold because of Covid. I hope you didn’t think I was trying to like make light of the situation as I’m really not it’s just the way I cope with the situation otherwise I’d completely fall apart xxx
Hi there good to hear your ablation went well. I am die to have mine on 23rd Nov at Barts and I’m terrified. Think I would rather have a general anaesthetic than be awake through it but that’s not gonna happen. I forgot to ask about side effects. I presume they will tell me all the things to watch out for afterwards. I do hope this has solved things for you and you continue on your road to recovery.
Hi Diamondcat you really will be fine. The after effects are described in the post ablation leaflets produced on the AFA site and I found that really useful. It’s written by people who have actually had the procedure. Good luck. Will all be done and dusted before you know it. X
Had an ablation early June 2020. Very straightforward but glad the trust wanted an overnight stay - that ensured proper post procedure monitoring. The electrophysiology nurse said they did a lot of work in the heart. However my initial heart health was good apart from the AF.Might take longer to repair the ablation sites because of anticoagulation therapy than for other surgery so don't overdo things for 2-3 months
