Am lying here , kicking myself ! 10 weeks post ablation , with Zero AF symptoms ...... had an unexpectedly late meal last night & the dreaded AF is back with a vengeance , at 3am .......Except it’s a bit faster HR pounding at 175 bpm........feels more like Atrial flutter
I’d had a hematoma in my calf post surgery mid August that led to difficult left knee problems, so it’s been a slow, gentle recovery . I had started some gentle exercise therapy 2 days ago ,it felt good. Am usually SO careful about eating timings etc .... but my darling beloved ( 84) had a Zoom Para Regimental call, that meant we eat later than usual ..... I was SO delighted it was fun for him , I cooked a lovely meal for him , forgot about me , thought I was once again invincible ......
Am guessing that I’ve totally overstimulated the Vagus nerve !
Praying that it will die down soon, have taken 100mgs Flecainide , I SO do not want to go to Hospital ! Am kicking myself for being careless..... I’d thought I’d seen the back of AF ........😨

Oh what a disappointment for you Alessa! How are you now? If you're still at that high rate I'd get yourself along to A&E. Or would another Flecainide help?
Mercifully Jeannie I managed to stay calm, gentle btreatbung & took cautiously took my 100 mg Flecainide ........ took a few hours , but eventually back in Sinus Rythmn for now .......
Looking back, I had overdone things this week, as I’d been feeling better after knee injection .... Was determined to work on re building fitness .....Heigh Ho ! Have emailed reading to my EP , but as it’s Half Term ,he’s probably taking a much needed break .....
I do hope that you are feeling better soon. Having just had an ablation myself, I understand that it can take 3 months for the heart to settle. Could you phone the hospital where you had the ablation and see what they advise?
10 weeks is so early please don’t kick yourself but eating late especially meat was a big trigger for me I’m still recovering 14 months post abalation so plenty of time for you to heal
Still early days so don’t despair. If you have been prescribed Flecainide, speak to the hospital or contact your Arrhythmia Nurse and ask about taking it as a PiP (pill in pocket). With your Doctor’s approval, the maximum dose you can take is 300mg within any 24 hour period but you must confirm this with your medics......
Yes, I do have Flecainide as a PIP as well as daily dose . I am however , quite cautious with Flecainide , when I had issues in Summer pre- ablation , emergency Flecainide dose caused me to go into 2 days of Atrial Flutter .....which was quite scary !
So far , so good ! The 100 mg eventually put me back in Sinus Rythmn .... Thank Heavens ..... Fingers crossed it stays that way over weekend 🙏💗🙏🤞🤞
Oh I do hope you start to feel better, soon, has your HR reduced at all ? If your HR is regular then going by my experience last week, could well be atrial flutter you are experiencing.
Don’t leave it too long, I know the thought of a hospital visit can be a worry but you need to get that HR sorted. So I think a visit to A&E is the next step.
Great to hear you are back in NSR. Yes, it is tough as you can never drop your guard completely regardless of ablation or just pills. If we are having a family get together (rare now with Covid!) I always mentally double check to make sure I haven't missed my Flecainide. At least you are now pretty sure one trigger!
