Just had my second ablation... 1st one lasted 14 years. I had a big run of svt and some afib at 3 weeks post ablation.... heart bounced around with all this for about 18 hours. Can my ablation still be successful?

Read out fact sheet on recovery please. heartrhythmalliance.org/resources/view/466 and you will see it is far too early for such thoughts. It will take at least three to six months for full recovery and lots of things will happen during that time.

As BobD pointed out, the recovery fact sheet is so helpful and reassuring. I had an ablation 6 weeks ago. About 2 weeks out I had what for me was a longish run of SVT, which resolved in a few hours. Have had a few shorter blips since then. But all that is apparently quite normal. Hard part is not getting nervous and worried when it happens. Knowing it’s normal helps a lot. Good luck!

Hi thereJust read your post and wondered how things are for you now? I had my 1st ablation 2 weeks ago and after feeling good for about 10 days I am now back in fast af all the time and feel worse than before. Totally fed up and wonder if this is normal.?Did yours settle or did you need more help?

I'm sorry to hear this, how long have you been in afib? After the long session of SVT and some afib my doc put me on Flecainide full-time. Heart has been perfect since....now I AM "weaning off" the Flec, it's been 10 days of half dose and still good. In another week or so I'll reduce again and keep my fingers crossed. My ablation was on August 21st...and I DO believe my heart has "settled down" now, (not just because of the Flec). I really think you need to be patient, it is VERY common for people to have issues in the first 3 months post-ablation...(I just read the MAJORITY of people have issues). 2 weeks is a very short time, and your heart has a lot of healing to do...very good chance it will settle down. When I had my issues at 3 weeks, they seemed FAR worse than my issues prior to the ablation, I thought the same as you, "it's worse"! But I don't believe that now, it's definitely MUCH better than before. Relax, keep the faith, and let your heart heal!
