Well, here I am, ........Lying wide awake at 5am today, but tom when l need to get out of bed for an early start Friday to get to London for planned ablation, bet I struggle to wake up.....
Irony is , I know it needs to be done ✅ I know I will be in the very best hands possible ✅I’m incredibly lucky in that respect . I’m being positive , got my head around all that, but I’m a wee bit apprehensive , as I lie here in NSR, trying not to think of what ifs........Sad to say a lovely friend died during process 3 years ago ......I know it’s extremely rare , almost unheard of ...... I know that I need to switch brain off & think of the fairy juice but ........
Last 8 months, especially since end of May heat have been a bit of a rollercoaster of highs & lows , last episode lasted 25hrs, was quite scary, it was possibly aggravated by Flecainide , which I thought was user friendly for me at 1st, but now seems to aggravate joint pain, causing fluid retention .
Wish me luck, I need to recover , I have an 84 year beloved Para to look after, and 2 labradors ( one turned 12 last month, so 2 x 84 yr olds ) I’m blessed with family and friends who are being very supportive . I dread the drive to London tom, we went 2 days ago on hottest day of year for pre-screening & Covid test.......Air Con failed on car, why does stuff like that always happen in a hot weather ?

Thanks lovely . Have been down this road 2 yrs ago , had EP studies to fix SVT, but I kept going into AF & they had to Cardiovert me 3 times during the process. All set for GA , thanks heavens that I’d requested sedation last time . I woke up feeling brilliant for 4 months after Cardioversion. That’s how I found you lot & all the fantastic info & support here !
I should have mentioned also , for some bad luck reason , my left titanium hip is suddenly giving me grief last 10 days .... I have Bi- lateral Birmingham hips , both have been magic for 16& 14 years .....
Good luck. All the thought process you described sound very familiar to me on the mornings of my ablations! I even convinced myself that I couldn’t possibly have the ablation that day as I had a sore throat and runny nose so must have a cold! Throat swab came back clear so all symptoms were completely psychosomatic.
Your thoughts sound just like mine , particularly for my first ablation. For my last one I went into fast AF whilst getting dressed in the morning and stayed that way until the procedure. Mind made up for me !

Had Cardioversion done ✅ 3 times during EP studies 2 years ago, that felt brilliant, I got my life back for 5 months ! Too early to say.... wide awake , cannot sleep 💤 but So tired
I hope everything has gone well for you Alessa69. I would like to know how you got on with the ablation. I am seeing my EP on Monday and hoping he will give me a date very soon for the procedure. I have just had two cardioversions ( 10 days between them) and have been put on dronedarone. My heart rate is low especially at rest ( low 40s) and I do feel a little dizzy.
I’m just extremely anxious that I will go into AF again.
I’m 70 tomorrow so I must try and enjoy my birthday and hope the year ahead will see an improvement in my quality of life.
so lucky + nice to have such a gr8 team [ x2 cardiov in 10 days wow] appointment for EP + a near date for a procedure] Where abouts are you based + EP located...?. I have AF + going round in circles with trying to get seen to [ ablation + op in oct last year] assess current AF NSR status...
I am so well now after my ablation. It took awhile to feel better but I would always have it done again if necessary. So....hope all goes well for you. Come back and tell us how it went.
So understand how you’re feeling mines over two weeks away and I’m telling myself I’m not too bad do I really need it. I was like it before my last two and don’t regret them one bit. Hope everything goes well for you x
Hope all went well! I’m sure it did! And hope you’ll be back home and resting in your own comfy home very soon. Totally understand that dread feeling before the procedure. Went through it just last week. So glad it’s over and done though. One week out, feeling a bit better every day. Still exhausted, but am just taking it easy. You do the same!! Be well. And hope this is the end of your ablation journeys!
Hope all went well with you yesterday and that you are looking forward to an AF free future. The last episode I had lasted 21 hours, the longest I have had, and left me feeling quite low. Alas I am too old for ablation and also not brave enough so my hats off to you for your courage!💕
Poor you ! I do hope that you were able to celebrate your birthday 🥳🍾🎂 4 weeks ago I had an episode that lasted 25 hrs, that made my mind up for me, it was incredibly tiring & a wee bit scary , hard work going up stairs .
Well, I’m back home now , all done ✅ I was under GA for 3 hrs & had the TOE too .... so woke up with my throat on fire . Fabulous, kind team looked after me , all very reassuring & seemed to go very smoothly , but my HR was a lot faster than usual overnight, running around 85-90, but settled more this am . For some reason, my EP could not fit Angioseals, wonder if I had bruised too much ? ( I do bruise easily )
Sadly , a less than user friendly
Night nurse , was very unhelpful & it really unsettled me .
Just woke up, fell asleep in Chair, will write more in a bit. Will write more tom, am too tired now to think straight!
Glad to hear you’re home and things went well! Sorry about the grumpy night nurse. I had one of those for my 1st ablation, really makes the whole process more stressful, doesn’t it. I lucked out w my nurse last week, very friendly and I reminded her of her mother. 😂 We spent a lot of time chatting.
Now that’s behind you, relax and enjoy some downtime. Just knowing the hospital part is over is such a relief! Be well!
