Hi all,

I just realized that this morning I took two Apixaban by mistake. Was wondering do I still take my one tonight as normal?

I did this once but still took my next dose as usual. I did not experience any bleeds I was aware of.My caring GP did not seem too worried about it when I related the story to him.

If it’s not too late.....DONT!!

Instead, click on the Pinned Post titled “Useful links for Newbies and Oldies”. Scroll down to the link to Anticoagulation then click on “Scenario Apixaban” then scroll down to managing doses where you will find information regarding what to do if you double dose. This information is from NICE which is the Government controlled body which advises and controls all medication. If it is to late then make sure you don’t do anything which could cause an internal bleed and seek advice in the morning from your pharmacy regarding tomorrow’s dose.

I’m not medically trained but it my understanding that missing a dose is less of a risk than overdosing but we have all done it and survive to tell the tale. I’m sure you will, but think about dossett boxes and phone alarms to prevent it from happening again......good luck

Thank you for the advice. I did take my Apixaban last night as normal. I also took my one this morning. I will have a look at the site you recomended.

don't panic! If you look at studies and other uses for Apixaban they used larger doses so although try not to have a fall don't get too anxious!

I will try not to panic. Thank you.

I would give your pharmacist a call. Also, leaflets accompanying medicines often explain what to do if you miss a dose or take an extra dose- check to see if there is any advice.
