Antihistamines and nose sprays

Earlier this year my GP prescribed a nasal steroid spray and then followed days of ectopic beats. A few days ago he prescribed an antihistamine tablet to deal with what I think is hay fever issues, including an irritated feeling in my breathing passages into my lungs, but no cough etc. That night my heart was all over the shop with “unclassified” a regular visitor on the Kardia as it was earlier in the year...there does appear to be some connection between ectopics and these treatments unless it just happens to be a complete coincidence, something I don’t believe in as an A-Fib sufferer. Anyone else have anything similar by way of experience. That said nearly a year since my last little outburst of A-Fib. Very very interesting video and article by Sanjay Gupta on the possible links between testosterone and heart problems. That guy always makes sense.

It’s unlikely to be the nasal spray, antihistamines - possibly? I found that any dysfunction of any part of my body would often trigger Arrythmia of some sort, especially if your immune response is involved, which it is if you have hay fever.

My cardio wasn’t happy with me taking antihistamines as he said the non sedating one can interfere with the QT interval? Since then I’ve been using Sterimar which is a natural nasal spray and it really helps. They do one for allergies too if this helps. He said If I used the anti hist he wanted an ecg to see if there were any effects, hence I tried the natural Sterimar.

I also avoid antihistamines and found some relief from the steroid nasal spray which reduces inflammation in the nasal passages. I was told that the steroid spray is not absorbed into the blood stream so cannot affect the heart - steroid nasal drops though can be absorbed into the blood stream and cause heart palpitations, as can the antihistamines.

I have also used salt water solution spray which I guess is similar to Sterimar but UK version which was mostly ineffective for me but the nasal washes have been very useful and the most affective at clearing sinus and lessening symptoms. I am using a nasal rinse x2 daily at present as I have had a persistent cough and blocked ears and stuffed up nose since last November from a virus+ air travel.

I use the spray mostly as a prophylactic when travelling against picking up virus etc (this was long before COVID19) as I am immune suppressed and I found it lessened the chance of infection when in company or in crowds in public places.

Warning:- Don’t anyone try to make up their own salt water solution and spray or rinse up your nose - it can burn and irritate the nasal passage.

FYI, Beconase spray for inhaling into the lungs which is use by people who get asthma in hay fever season started giving me trembling and bit of irrigular heart beat within minutes of inhalation.. After some years of using with no noticed side effects. I was changed to Bricanyl which did not have those effects. Since supplementing with Vitamin D, I don't get the hay fever plus lung problems... But cannot really believe it was the Extra vit D that did that. Who knows? I'm in worse health for other reasons now and get PAF now and again as a result of medication I have to take... But my lungs continue better since taking 1000 iu of Vit D daily... Which may or may not be the reason. (I was low but not severely low in vit D before supplementing and now blood shows highish normal levels). I self treated.
