Just watched our fave cardiologist discuss AF in the young (under 60) and amongst other things he reports on a study that found when patients went for an AF ablation, if an SVT was found during preliminary electrophysiology and they ablated the SVT pathway instead of the AF - it stopped both SVT and the AF!
Well it certainly didn’t for me! My first ablation was for SVT and they questioned if I had full blown Afib. I was back in hospital 6 months later for my second ablation for definite Afib. They managed to deal with half of my pulmonary veins in that op (51/2 hours) and then another 6 months went by when another ablation, also lasting 51/2 hours, cleared up the remaining rogue cells around the pulmonary veins.
That was exactly 3 years ago and I have been Afib free, as far as I can tell, ever since.
