I had a long discussion with my pharmacist about suitable cough relief and he went straight for the Robitussin. No discernible issues with other meds and sorted the cough eventually
I take Pholcodieine when I need a cough mixture. This was recommended by my GP. I did ask at two chemists and they also said it was the only one I could take due to my heart medications. I have had no problems taking it.
No I am on Nebivolol, Diltiazem, Ramipril and Rivarixaban. My understanding with caution on cough medicines is that they affect AF, put your heart rate up rather than inter react with your meds. As has been said most over the counter cold remedies have NASIDS and decongestants in them which is a no no for people with AF. Pholcodine is just codiene in a syrup and codiene is one of the few painkillers that is available to AFers.
Many of these medications contain NSAIDs to relieve pain. They also often have decongestants in them, which can make your heart disease worse in these ways:
Your blood pressure and heart rate may go up.
The meds may prevent your heart disease medicine from working right.
Ask your doctor about other ways to ease symptoms of cold, flu, or sinus problems.
High alcohol content 7.7 vol% in Covonia on the label it clearly states do not take with Heart, Liver or Kidney problems.
Hi, I had a really irritating cough earlier on this year. The pharmacist said I could take Benylin for chesty coughs containing Guaifenisin and levomenthol, and i got some Bronco stop lozenges, which is a thyme herb extract (the pharmacist didn't think those would do any harm.) as I was aggravating everyone around me! I had partial success with those . I also drank warm Ribena with honey in when up in the night with it. Not sure if it helped with the cough , and it was very sweet ,but comforting in the night. It was all more psychological that I was doing something ,I think. I take Apixaban and other meds, so it is always best to get the advice of a pharmacist. really pleased though you tested negative. Good luck with sorting the cough.
You always have to know that our bodies are different and we can have different preparations. What can work for you can be dangerous for others. You need to understand that most preparations are prescribed after specific tests. I don't think you'd want to have a bad reaction. One pharmacist recommended pholcodine, but another suggested me 2rok.se/koper-codeine/. Have you noticed what diverse suggestions we received?
So, just consult with your doctor and see what works best for you. Don't try to make decisions alone.
