Quick question; has anyone taken COQ10 supplements with Bisoprolol?
I started taken them yesterday and the side effects I had experienced when I first took Bisoprolol seem to have come back.
Not sure if it’s just a coincidence or not?

I don’t take bisoprol owing to a very low heartbeat but I do take blood thinners. I have paroxysal AF. I have toyed with the idea of taking CoQ10 do you know if it makes any difference to PAF?
CoQ10 is a nutrient which assists the body to release energy at the Mitrochondrial level - so no it won’t make any noticeable difference to AF. As we age the body’s ability to produce ubiquinol, active ingredient in CoQ10, declines, energy levels also decline. That’s what I notice happens if I don’t take them for a week or so, less energy.
My pharmacist advised me against taking COQ10 because I was anti-coagulants. Something about them not being tested as ok together.
Yeah I am on anti coags too so probably best to give the COQ10 a miss for a while.
I am on anti coags and my EP gave me the go ahead to use CoQ10.
On CoQ10 generally. I took it for a while and recommend it based on that experience. I think I stopped because of the expense and also that magnesium was doing a good enough job. On a trip recently I was not feeling well and took a CoQ10 tablet and couldn't sleep afterwards, but it definitely made me feel better. Point: take it in the morning!
I was recommended to take by my EP in 2014 - been taking 125g (active ingredient) daily since then - also on anticoagulants with only excellent results.
Just buy a really good brand which is manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, many use fillers & may not be helpful. I’ve had more problems with fillers & caking agents in both drugs & supplements than with the active agent. The better brands are usually more expensive for good reason & are circa £25-35/month supply. I favour Nature’s Aid - Lamberts is also an excellent brand. Pharmacist also recommended I take.
So much difference of opinion.
Hi, can I ask if you know whether it's better to take COQ10 or Ubiquinol? I've started taking statins and so would like to take one of these supplements too. Thanks!
I will ask my cardiologist whenever I get to see him with this current situation
