Well I suppose that's what makes it so annoying - it's Paroxysmal! But 5 months without is good going. I was on Sotalol before but started having more breakthrough episodes that started to get longer so changed meds. I have more episodes but they don't last longer than 2-4 hours and the ectopics have gone ( the ones I could really feel that is)

Hope it resolves quickly. I didn't know Sotalol was also used as a PIP.

Take care!

X

I use it after advice years ago by cardiologist. I’m due to see one couple weeks but cancelled to May. Now cancelled again. I have so many questions to ask. Especially PIP. Still I hope it works this time. I normally get woken up with it. First time in the day. But thanks for reply.

Could you request a phone consultation? My appt with cardiologist has been switched to phone. If you have a named consultant write a letter c/o his/her secretary and give them a short update. I find writing letters especially if cc'd to patient liaison, gets good results.

Do you know what ? That’s a brilliant idea. How dense am I. ?! Tomorrow that is the first thing I’ll do. The heart has still not settled although BP OK. THANK YOU. How are you doing. ??

Yes please try phone consultation.

He might be on WhatsApp and you could do a video call to your cardiologist? But bear in mind! He most likely is very busy in the hospital now with all the COVID-19 Cases experiencing heart problems on top of being afflicted with this virus! I will keep you in my prayers Sotolol πŸ™πŸ’œπŸ™

I've been in AF since late last November, you get used to it after a while. I've just got over having a few days where it made me feel really tired. Would have rang my AF nurse at the hospital, but don't want to with all that's going on. I did speak to her in November and she said they probably wouldn't offer me yet another CV, but perhaps try different tablets. Can't think of much that's left for me to try to be honest.

Hope you soon go back to normal sinus rhythm.

Bless you. What do you feel like when you always in it. Like heart banging. ??

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50β€’ in reply tosotolol

Not too aware of my heart rate most of the time, but have periods when I do and that causes worry. Notice it if I try to do anything that requires effort, it makes me feel lethargic and very odd at times if I move too fast.

Today I went into my garden to dig up dandelions from the lawn. Not something that requires a lot of stamina, but it wore me out.

sotolol profile image
sotololβ€’ in reply tojeanjeannie50

Wow. Horrible. My BP 108/83 HR 99. So it’s coming down it’s normally 60. It must be horrible. Even this since Saturday sucks. But what you go through it must be so frustrating for you. My HR last time was 130 in November. Didn’t hear from cardiologist. But I’m not surprised. Just had last Sotalol for today. Bless you. I’m probably on the way to persistent.

Jalia profile image

Dandelions ARE my lawn Jean ( saves a bit of work ...) πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒ

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50β€’ in reply toJalia

Well the bees will love you for leaving them. I do feel guilty for depriving them of the dandelions, but more pop up up each day and there are other plants now which they love just as much. One of my near neighbours has actually got a weed free lawn. I asked how they kept it like that and they had bought something called Lawn Magic off the internet. I intend getting some of that myself this year.

I know how you feel. I sat out my third episode for the first time at home on Friday. It can feel endless especially when you don't want to go to A and E. One of the members here told me to watch what I was eating - not to overload the system. Check out the thread on 'ways to distract during an AF episode' from Friday 3. Lots of good tips there and a few laughs.

I would just add - Audiobooks - that’s all I could do in the early days - listen to audiobooks for distraction as I couldn’t even sit up when in AF otherwise my HR went ballistic. And that is still my - go to.

Yes - really good at the moment thank you. Had a lot going on a few weeks ago with family but that has settled now & just finished latest course of anti-virals so I always feel good for a couple of weeks after that!

The immune suppression I take mean I get multiple infections which take weeks to get over leaving me with chronic fatigue so isolation is actually working for me! It’s an odd world!

sotolol profile image
sotololβ€’ in reply toCDreamer

I think of you a lot. How you keep helping everybody when you have a lot of problems. Lovely lady. πŸ’•

Flyer2820 profile image

Hang on in there sotolol, it can be very difficult in this isolation period. It's not worrying me though. Yesterday I had a heated argument with the electric fire a conversation with the freezer that left me cold and spoke to the iron that left me steaming. It didn't help much when The washing machine piped up and left me in a spin and when the microwave started on me that gave me a shock. Other than that I am perfectly ok, just waiting for the black van to arrive to take me away.

Stay safe. Hope you get right soon.

Regards Flyer.

Sorry but what is PIP?

Flyer2820 profile image
Flyer2820β€’ in reply toT1tone

Hi T1tone. I know it's difficult to be up to scratch with all the abbreviations, so don't apologise for asking. PEP stands for pill in the pocket. Some people just take a pill when they feel a afib coming on and it pulls them out of it.

Hope this explains it to you.

Keep safe.

Regards Flyer.

T1toneβ€’ in reply toFlyer2820

Thanks Flyer I would never have got that! In my world PIP means Personal Independence Payment so you might understand why I was confused - stay safe!

Pill in pocket. So when you get an episode you take to get you back in sinus rhythm. Hopefully.

When you say you have AF when you wake, in my experience means you may have a back issue where the nerves that communicate with the brain get compromised. Hardly anyone believes this is a factor but you may wish to pay attention and you may find it is for you.

sotolol profile image
sotololβ€’ in reply toEngMac

I have a spinal injury since 1985 !!!

EngMac profile image
EngMac

You may wish to look at some of my recent posts. Any spinal injury can impact any parts of the spine. With AF, it is difficult to know what really is the cause so any possibility, in my view, is worth exploring.
