Off Bisoprolol

I am off Bisoprolol after phasing out from 5 over the last 6 weeks. The last dose of 1.25 was a week ago. I feel fine no more fatigue and doing brisk walks daily. The dog is very happy too. Does anyone know will the remnants of this drug still be in my system ?

I'm on 1.25 a day waiting for an ablation. I was told that I had to come off Bisoprolol 3 days before the ablation so I assume that after 3 days you are free of it. Certainly should be after a week.

I shouldn't give advise as I am not a Doc and we are all different. The fatigue was too much for me to deal with so I weaned myself off of it and feel all the better for it. I'll take my chances. Dont think taking it twice a day will resolve your problems. Maybe ask the GP for an alternative. Good Luck,

The Biso will be effectively out of your body by now, you receptors would have become more sensitive through taking Biso and these take a little longer to normalise, I cannot say how long but I believe its about 4 weeks.

Thanks that's encouraging

I had an allergic reaction caused by Bisoprolol after I had dropped taking it, an exacerbation of asthma in the form of a sudden reduction in lung power which led to 3 days in hospital..

The reason I stopped taking Bisoprolol was that after 7 weeks some element of the drug caused me to get the very rare side effect of urticaria

After 14 months of urticaria i have developed intolerance of some foods, including tomatoes, oranges, bananas, grapes and granary bread.

So for us with very rare side effects I wonder if Bisoprolol ever leaves the body totally

Yes it will, best to buy a 2 quid pill cutter and halve the pills for a week or two and then

gradually withdraw until zero. At least that's what I did roughly a year ago, and to be

honest I haven't looked back. If it's right for you, you'll be the same. Best wishes !

Having second ablation in 3 weeks time, I am on warfarin, they tell me to stop taking it for one day before the opp, shouldn't it be longer than that as i am concerned about the blood not clotting enough for all the zaps they do to the heart, what do you think?

in reply to Leeson

I would say contact your EP/Rhythm team. It seems that they all go by different rules so best to double check with the pros if you have any concerns

Glad to hear you are less fatigued from stopping taking this. Sadly it’s made no difference to my husband and still gets so breathless and tired. Not the doctor or consultant seem to know why and don’t help 😢

Scottyland. You will be fine. Does not stay in system long and you did exactly the right thing in reducing over time.
