AF Association is a charity funded by donations and grants. If you had any idea of the rules and regulations involved you would not even think that there could be any commercial interest. It would be great to have more money but not at any cost. The independence of the association is paramount and all information available and published by AF Association has to be vetted and approved by NHS as well as the various medical trustees.
Thank you, Bob. Yes, it has reassured me and I have to admit to feeling much more positive about the site. What has puzzled me has been the rock hard view of anti-coagulation. I know I am probably being overly cautious but I find the CHADS VASC 2 scoring system very limited. I wish our general health and weight, nutrition and lifestyle could be taken into account. Does anyone feel like this?
It ain't perfect but for now it is the best we have. Just remember that every 15 minutes somebody in UK has an AF related stroke. To me that is enough persuasion.
Well I'm back home as you will have guessed. A heck of a lot of travelling. A lot of "networking". A lot of drinking bottled water and nibbling biscuits whilst discussing the future and very nice to meet some new faces and not so new (Hi CarolF). I can't believe it is ten years since AF Association was formed and the amazing progress we have made in that time but there is still much to do and we are the best people to do much of it. Keep fighting your corners!
