Hi Thompson 123 first of all congratulations. Such happy lovely news. There will be some one along soon that will be able to answer your question. Sorry I can’t help.

Bless you and your baby

Hi Michelle, only an anecdotal comment, my daughter then aged early 30's, went into AF during her two pregnancies. When she stopped breeding, the AF stopped.

Putting family history together it seems we have a genetic predisposition to AF.

Congratulations! We don't get many births on here......usually grandchildren.

Not quite the same as you but I can clearly recall the first night following the births of each of my two children when I was woken abruptly with a frighteningly fast haphazard heart rate. I didn't know about AF then and thought I was dying. By the time I had summoned the nurse and she had gone to get her blood pressure machine I was bsvk to normal. I'm thinking it was an adrenaline rush.....These were 38/40 years ago.

I had nothing more until 10 years later at 48 years old when properly diagnosed AF appeared on the scene and has remained, albeit with some calm periods, to this day 27 years later.

Hopefully yours has calmed down a bit now .

Best wishes

Jalia x

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Having a bout of AF after a medical procedure is a known thing. Was it a natural birth or a caesarean? My youngest sister had an episode when she had a lung operation. We've heard from other people on this forum who have had the same after a medical procedure.

After the birth of my first child, my BP went sky high. I think these episodes are just caused by stress. Hopefully, it will just be a once only occurrence for you.

Please let us know how you progress.

Being pregnant puts extra stress on the heart because of the extra weight carried and fluid circulating. I really have no idea but maybe it is the heart just settling after the effort of delivery and getting used to it's normal workload as well.

Congratulations on your baby Michelle. I don’t recall heart issues when I had my babies nearly 30 years ago but I did have severe preeclampsia with both pregnancies and a hypertensive crisis after the first birth. My BP was so high it was too dangerous to move me from the delivery suite back to my room until the next day and for 3 or 4 days I could only visit the baby in the nursery by wheelchair. Doctors say my arrhythmias may be linked to my pregnancies and nowadays there is a lot more awareness about troubled pregnancies increasing risks of high BP, strokes and heart problems later in life. At least you can keep a good eye on your heart health. All the best and enjoy your precious little one. They seem to grow up so quickly x

Yes, this happened a lot after having one of my babies, but I had experienced ectopics on and off since childhood, and all my grown children also have them, as did my mother. I till have episodes that can last several weeks. Medication helps. I do not have Afib. Hope they go away soon!

Hi yes this this also happened to me 37 years ago almost immediately as I became pregnant and unfortunately has stayed off and on with me, hormones can play havoc apparently with your heart my cardiologist advised, although if the burden is great you can be offered an ablation or medication, I have not AF but ectopics, hope it does not stop you from enjoying your little bundle of joy!
