I have almost non-stop heart burn, burning sensations in my chest and/or around my heart. Is this associated with AF?

I’ve noticed that I am never without some sort of pain, discomfort, sensation - whatever - in my chest. So when I’m not in AF it seems I have either a band of pain or heart burn. Anyone else?

Oh, another question. I need more information. How long has this been going on? Since taking heart meds etc... Before being diagnosed??

Since the diagnosis. The only common meds is Eliquis. I take Metoprolol only when an AF starts. So it has been going on since the end of August last year.

I've been taking metropolol since 2007. Xarelto for about three years and I can tell you that when I started taking aspirin in the Dark Ages of my life that I did start having serious, burning indigestion and then switched to Xarelto. Then a year later or so the indigestion returned. To make this story short, I found that it is best to take the two drugs together when eating a full meal. And I drink now at least 40 ounces of water a day. Anything less than 40 ounces and the indigestion returns with a vengeance.

Very interesting to hear. I am not convinced the burning heart sensation is the usual indigestion as t doesn't seem food related. But talking to you makes me think I should try some new approaches. I too drink a lot of water. And coconut water.

If it is constant - then you should see your GP.

I had similar problems. Bad heartburn with pain between my shoulder blades and in my chest. It got pretty bad at times and was fairly constant. It turned out to be Eliquis so I was switched to Xarelto but still had problems. Now I’m on low dose aspirin with success. It took quite a few months to get back to normal. Talking to your doctor would be a good idea. Good luck!

I wondered if it might be my Eliquis. Thanks for sharing.

I would definitely get it checked out. My husband had three attacks three days on the trot of what he called indigestion. Turned out he had had three heart attacks! If you get a really painful attack go to Aand E and get them to check your bloods. They can tell from this. Don’t want to frighten you but it’s best to be safe. He now sometimes gets the pain but it is angina. His doctor increased his angina tablets so they are very rare now. Good luck regards Ursula x

thanks to both of you for this input. I take it seriously. Luckily I have been fully checked out and given the green light - angiogram, CTScan, echo, and all clear. Healthy heart. Good to go!
