You and I should get together and form a pair of maraccas! :-) Chin up. At least we can actually be given the drugs we need over here.... subject to postcode of course! :-/

I have Aortic Stenosis as well as AF, it comes with High Blood Pressure and allergic Asthma. Apart from that I'm as fit as a fiddle. Don't worry- keep well hydrated and enjoy life.

Well, you have a positive mental attitude and can laugh at yourself, which I find is a great asset in situations such as ours. Keep it up! :-)

I was diagnosed with severe coronary artery disease 18 years ago, which stops me living a "normal" life. Afib diagnosed this year tho think its been going on for years. Am on a load of pills mostly for the CAD!

i have benign tumour in most of my right atria and septum as well as Permanent AF waiting for removal of tumour and surgical ablation at same time via open heart surgery

Thanks everyone taking the time to reply. Yes, I understand Chris-S - I am so ill I can hardly do anything. Been told they can give me a "few more years" but I have hardly any quality of life. I am still waiting for the counselling they promised me. I do push myself constantly like I have always had to for years (I was injured when having my son by caesarean), but it is hard when I need to work full time. Luckily I work from home 3 days a week, so I can drag myself out of bed to the computer but I cannot do much else besides. Good look frills with the op.

I am so sorry that you are having such a weary time of it. It's bad enough having AF without any other problems. I had a GP appointment this morning and had to wait in the car for ages until the breathlessness and sweating subsided. I'm to go up to 10mg Bisoprolol whilst waiting for the ablation. Your tenacity is amazing! Best wishes, Helena.

Thank you so much Helena. I have learnt to pace myself more - and like you I have to wait until I feel a little better before doing something. Takes me all morning just to get out the house usually and then I am already exhausted! Good luck with the ablation.

Hi, I have a prosthetic aortic valve, which is my second replacement in 43 years. I also have M.S. It seems whatever will help my M.S. is contra-indicated for my heart problems, and vice-versa! Quite frustrating when trying to find a way to become more useful. :-/

Yes I agree, frizzylizzy. For instance verapamil made my heart failure worse (took ages before they stopped it) and I don't think my metformin helps. Diets for gout, being on warfarin, my diabetes and heart problems all contradict each other as well. So difficult, isn't it! Thanks for answering and hope you are coping will it all.

yes leaky heart valve due to rheumatic fever.

I now think a lot of my heart problems stem from nearly dying with measles when young - they only thought it affected my eyes and ears at the time, but no-one took any notice of me constantly fainting. Even when I was eventually diagnosed with asthma I realise that what I mostly had was a "heart cough".

I have recently been diagnosed as having Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava, a vein abnormality to my heart which results in heart block and possibly AF, it has not been a problem till lately ,( after I retired at 70.,) dam it : -(

AuntieCrazy and frizzylizzy how are things now for you both as my problems just seem to go on and on?

I am exhausted all the time tk11, but am coping in a fashion as long as I pace myself. I tend to push myself too far, but I am beginning to stop myself doing this. I get upset when I can't do the walking I used to do but have resigned myself to just doing a bit - I have to plan this very carefully so I can find a bench for example which I now see as a positive thing to sit, look at our lovely Welsh views and rest. The biggest problem still is getting people to understand - but I am lucky I have a sister who does (but she is ill too). Are your problems getting worse or are there new ones? Thinking of you.

I just seem to get problems added on each time it go to hospital. I am tired and have had breathing difficulty, they tell me I am now asthmatic... but some of the problem is due to heart failure. I like you want to do so much but some days find it hard.

I know what you mean about people not understanding, as we have no outward signs they just don't get it.

Enjoy the views and the rest at least we can get out still
