Firstly, thank you all for your good wishes for my ablation, it’s much appreciated. All went well, went to lab around 1.30 back in room 5.00 (ablation was done in Private Hospital under NHS). EP said all was still good with work done for Flutter in 2017 so didn’t need do do anything in right atrium and ablated all 4 pulmonary veins in left. Was home today at mid-day, groin a bit sore and bruising beginning to appear! Throat was slightly sore yesterday, but surprisingly ok today. Feeling very tired from GA and didn’t sleep that well last night, who does in hospital, so have been sleeping this afternoon. Nice to be in NSR! Will keep updates coming over next few days/weeks. Thank you all once again. Jo
Ablation done: Firstly, thank you all... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Ablation done
Well done...take it easy!! What a relief, eh ??
Glad all went well, now take it easy and let heart recover.
Which hospital and who was your EP, I had my cryo 11 years ago at BRI under Tim Cripps.
Will do!
It was done at The Spire through The Heart Institute, it was done by Palash Barman, he has been excellent, I only saw him in November but because I was in persistent AF he wanted it done quickly!
How wonderful that your EP was on the ball when he accelerated the waiting time as you were in persistent . My EP said that atrial flutter in the right atrium (cavotricuspid isthmus )has a 94% success rate. So, it is not surprising that your first ablation held. If only the four pulmonary veins were ablated for your second, then your heart did not have time to remodel which would have required extensive ablation. In my opinion, your EP is a hero. I wish I had had your luck rather than being left in persistent causing my heart to remodel extensively requiring three ablations so far.
Good news. wishing you a speedy recovery!
Lovely to hear such a positive post at the beginning of the weekend and like the others have suggested, take it easy , it really does make the difference for sure,
Ohh it's great as you say to be in nsr! Pleased it went well for you best wishes.
Hope all keeps going well, like everyone says, rest is the key.
I had ablation done last Thursday at Harefield. I just had a couple of washed out days but feel remarkably ok. Just the odd thumpy heart.
I’ve been on a couple of walks too!
Hello again jobristol. Very pleased to hear that all went well. It's nice to wake up after an op. Better than the alternative. Just don't forget that you can still have a few episodes of af for up to 3 months after the ablation. I had about 7 episodes of af ten days after my ablation, and then none. So don't be disappointed if you have a few. Good luck for the future and please keep us all posted on how you are doing. Together we can beat this scourge.
Best wishes, Flyer.
Thank you. You’re comment re nice to wake up after an op made me laugh. On Tuesday 2 days before the ablation my 12 year old granddaughter said to me as I was leaving her house “good luck Thursday” then whispered to me “I know it’s not going to happen but goodbye just in case, I love you” and then gave me a hug and kiss! I did laugh.
Oh bless her!!! Actually that’s a really lovely thing she did, isn’t it? It’s something that most adults would like to say to their loved one going in for an operation, but for -obvious reasons!- don’t
I’m SO glad it’s over successfully, yay! Thank you so much for letting us know
Enjoy the relief and recovery now! Please do keep us posted on your progress x
Lovely to read your positive post. Take it easy.
Rest, rest and rest and well done itl be worth it 👌
Great news! There are some fantastic active holiday brochures out there?
Good to hear. Keep updating us as I will be following your progress as due for an ablation in March if all goes well.
