Well had my second ablation done on Tuesday. Got there at ten am and was in the Cath lab for 3pm, no ward as beds were full, long wait but EP had 3 on list before me. Procedure only took around an hour as he was filling in gaps and touching up areas missed from previous ablation which was cryabaloon, this one was done by RF. Sedation was at a mimimum as I was aware of the whole procedure, did not seem as uncomfortable as first ablation. Unfortunately at the end of the procedure I had some kind of adverse reaction to the protamine drug that was administered, blood pressure went through the roof and I went as red as a tomato according to the EP who didn’t seem to overly concerned. Due to the reaction my nerves in my body took a long time in waking up and I was unable to pee for 10 hrs, so was eventually fitted with a catheter (ouch). It was removed the next day to try again, after 4 hrs I managed a trickle and there after it was full on shergar 😊. Lots of things going on but they are the basic highlights. Now at home nursing the insert wound and recovering home alone, bored already but two weeks rest is a must. Relieved it’s over and now time to heal. Good luck to anyone having their first ablation it really isn’t has bad as you may think.
