I have a pacemaker fitted. I go brisk walking three days a week on a 3 mile route. I have a rather bad ache on my left shoulder next to the pacemaker site. Strangley when I bend over to remove my walking boots the pain goes away! I now wear a sponge on my shoulder to ease this pain. Anybody out there get this??

Acheing shoulder
Yes a bit - it’s usually scar tissue forming around the tendons and fascia surrounding the PM. I see a massage therapist regularly who does a very precise technique which breaks down early scar tissue forming which I found has eliminated the problem. Leave it and you will never resolve the issue as scar tissue will restrict the whole site.
That is very helpful as I also get aches from time to time. I figured it was scar tissue but didn't realise there was a massage technique to help disperse it. Do you use a sports therapist?
Yes - and trained remedial soft tissue therapist - she’s very highly qualified and very experienced.
She works around the PM and wiring with one finger very precisely. I had it for a few sessions after the 6 weeks embedding period. I could feel tightness building and I have known a few people who ended up with frozen shoulder after PM implant and having had that once, didn’t want to go through that again. I had to do very precise exercises with tiny movements to mobilise the very tiny muscles - rotator muscles - to keep everything moving and fluid. I now don’t even notice it.
Thanks for that reply. I had my PM fitted last year so maybe scar tissue a bit more settled?? I have no problem with shoulder, lifting weights 3 times a week. I now insert a sponge on my shoulder when brisk walking 3 miles, 3 times a week! This works well. Did you go private for the therapist?
