thank you for this great group. I had an asymptomatic afib incident in March which I was given a cardioversion. My afib subsided for a short time and then on a follow up with my EP I was scheduled for and received an ablation (radio frequency) on June 7, still asymptomatic except now for the last month I have soreness in my neck and shoulder. I have a follow up in a few weeks and everything I have read said this pain should not last more than a week. Any experience with this and/or advice. Thanks

Neck and Shoulder Pain
Are you sure your neck pain is related to your ablation? or have I misunderstood your Post? 🤔
I often get distracting neck pain (probably from cervical arthritis) that can "wind me up" so much that it has induced AF events. Now I quickly take 2 paracetamol and the cycle is broken before it starts.
Do you take a statin? I had neck, shoulder, arm and back pain. I stopped statins and pain is gone.
No, no meds at all, and I would never take statins. But thanks for your suggestion.
In my case, if my neck tension/pain is not related to my cervical arthritis, and because I seem to have had it for my lifetime, it could well be caused by a flare up of the polio virus that has lived in my spine/brain stem ever since my childhood paralytic polio at age 5-6 in Sydney. And, interestingly, polio virus seems to be related to meningitis. See this quote I quickly found online ...
"Meningitis. The polio virus can infect the meninges, which are the membranes around the brain and spinal cord. This causes a severe headache, a stiff neck, and sensitivity to light (when light hurts or bothers the eyes). Muscle weakness or paralysis."
As you can see, I really don't have a definitive answer, but I sure would like to know the truth of it.🤔
I bet you regret asking now, but glad you sorted your statin pain. 🤕
Could be muscular and/or nerve pain either from positioning during the procedure or the procedure itself that hopefully will resolve soon. Definitely report it to the ep.
