I have my hair colored and cut every 10 weeks, is there any problems with that while on Eliquis. Any responses welcome
Thanks

I think you are worrying unnecessarily about taking Apixaban. As has been mentioned in replies to your earlier posts, Apixaban should not effect normal activities. Just take sensible precautions when doing things like gardening such as wearing gloves and avoid contact sports such us boxing or rugby, which I suspect are not at the top of your list of regular activities. The only foods to avoid are grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Make sure you have annual or bi-annual blood tests to check kidney function and that’s about it........BobD has his hair cut and coloured once a month whether it needs it or not, mind you, he takes Warfarin......😉
Thanks, love your humor
I should mention that Apixaban does not adversely affect the kidneys but the medication leaves the body via the kidneys, which is why they need to be regularly checked.
Once you get used to taking Eliquis/Apixaban I’m sure, like the rest of us, it will just become a way of life, but I thought I’d share a couple of tips that may be helpful later. Missing a dose is quite common, so to avoid this from happening, think about using a weekly pill box (dosette box) and if possible, use an alarm clock and/or mobile to remind you. This will also help avoid double dosing which is not a good idea. If it happens, do not panic but (figuratively speaking) wrap yourself up in cotton wool and be particularly careful not to bang your head. In the unlikely event that you do knock yourself, call your Doctor for advice.
If you do miss one, it’s not the end of the world, just follow the instructions in the leaflet. For procedures, operations and some dental work, you may be asked to miss doses. Do not worry, as this will not significantly affect the risk of having a stroke.
When or if the clocks change, the hour difference will not be a problem but some take it either 1/2 hour earlier or later in the morning then normal time in the evening. Hope these tips help.......
I have found that since taking anticoagulants (first Rivaroxaban then Apixaban) that my hair is brittle and tends to break easily though I can't prove that this is not simply a function of growing older - nearly 75. So I would keep an eye out for hair loss - grey hair is very fashionable at the moment anyway! I don't have mine coloured as I have natural silver streaks in dark hair but if I did I'd go silver 😀
Thank you
I have bright pink " highlights" and blonde also. Not only on apixaban but have reaction if dye gets on my skin (thus just foils). Vanity of vanity ......
Ok, thanks
I have colored hair and have had no problems with Eliquis or other meds - propafenone, diltazem, and lorsartan.
That’s good to know
No problems at all having hair coloured/bleached, etc etc
