Woke up this morning at about 0300 and immediately noticed two successive skipped beats and that the heart seemed to be “quivering”. I have posted on this before; it feels like a shivering sensation. When I checked my pulse it was regular and fairly slow. I took a Kardia reading and it indicated that all was normal. I don’t think I had been in AF as I had also woken 45 mins earlier and not noticed anything- normally PAF would last longer than 45 mins. When I place my hand over the heart there was no indication of the quivering or shivering sensation and I am not completely certain it originates from the heart. When I have posted on this before, some people suggested that it could be atrial flutter. Some flutter was noted on a couple of ECG’s, but this was always during an episode of what I thought was PAF, and never involved the quivering. So it remains something of s mystery. When I reported it to the local cardiac nurses they were dismissive, saying it might not even be the heart. I am wondering whether I should ask for further investigation or whether this can be dismissed. If it was atrial flutter, wouldn’t this show up in Kardia and wouldn’t I have some awareness of a rapid beat? The sensation, unlike PAF, always goes after about 10 mins, particularly if I get up.

“Quivering” heart again...
I sort of know what you maybe talking about. I wouldn’t call it a shivering sensation. Sometimes I get what I can only call an adrenaline rush type feeling and a sort of shakiness around my diaphragm area and sometimes accompanied by a sort of weak feeling. I interpret that as my ANS (Autonomic Nervous System) cutting in which certainly would respond to multiple ectopics, low BP, low HR or a startle response.
If any of that resonates with you I would suggest you read up on ANS and how it functions and sometimes dysfunctions. I found this video tutorial the most comprehensive and simple to understand explanation.
I have ANS dysfunction which affects my BP and gives me POTS and I find I am hyper alert to any changes in my body. More centres are now testing for ANS dysfunction but trying to get a referral is not easy.
This sounds like something different; the only symptom I get is the “shivering” which passes when I stand up. It is fairly infrequent and always happens at night. The room wasn’t cold. On this occasion I also noticed a couple of ectopics when I woke up. It’s a mystery!
This sounds like what I have, I've just posted about it now.......I don't get dizzy but a real heightened state, a very odd sensation it scares the life out if me...
There seem to be lots of different “quiverings”!
Yeah, I reckon I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same feeling sometimes and I know it is not a PVC or a PAC. It just happpens very short between normal beats. Like a flutter for 1 sec. I will upload a pic and have marked the spot what I call my quivering.
Cheers

I sometimes get a quivering or shuddering feeling, usually when lying down. Since I discovered there is nothing really holding your heart in place apart from the tubes attached to it I have assumed (especially as I have a wonky back) that it's being poked or pushed by something it doesn't like or a line is a bit kinked - probably totally wrong but I doubt anybody is going to investigate it 😊
I rang the cardiac nurses today and they were again rather dismissive saying ” it doesn’t sound like anything we have heard of.”
I’m not sure if my experience is similar to anything you (or anyone else!) is experiencing ... But for years I’ve intermittently experienced short periods of a kind of buzzing/vibrating / quivering sensation in my heart area. Even as a child I remember lying in bed and feeling like a cat was purring in my chest!
I recently developed AF and had a loop recorder implanted. I had a buzzing/vibrating etc incident not long after that - and nothing at all showed up on my loop recorder! So it seems it’s not actually about the heart rhythm in my case...
I get this! It’s horrible 😭
